Ben Revere out 6-8 weeks following foot surgery

Ben Revere will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair his broken right foot and the Phillies announced that the center fielder is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Revere recovered from an awful April to hit .347 in 65 games since May and raise his overall batting average to .305, but now he’s in danger of missing the remainder of the season.

Acquired from the Twins for Vance Worley and Trevor May this offseason, Revere is a career .285 hitter with 96 steals in 342 games at age 25, but he’s yet to homer in 1,400 plate appearances and has a modest .654 OPS. His injury has the Phillies talking about getting another center fielder, but anyone they bring in would presumably be merely a stop gap.

I don’t like to see people get hurt but if its gotta happen at least it happened to a phillies player.

Wow. What a scumbag you are.

Funny how it’s the Phillies fans that get a bad rap but you always see stuff like this written about their players and the city and the fans themselves.

Real shame. Sure looked like the Phils got the better player in the deal. Hopefully he comes back in September and can regain form.

With Amaro looking to add a CF I think the move here is not necessarily to find a CF but rather an OF who can play CF and move to RF when Revere comes back at the end of this year or next season.

For that to happen you need to trade Delmon Young (one can hope).

The people on 94.1 WIP are always so annoying talking about how bad Revere has been this season. I swear, they have to be some of the worst broadcasters in american sports. He is going to be HUGELY Missed in this lineup if they do not find a suitable replacement.

he doesn’t have much power, but whenever he is on base – he becomes a threat because of his speed. I can’t count the amount of times he has sparked this team late in games because of his base running!

    So yeah, THIS SUCKS!

This is simple. move Dom Brown to center, where he’s played some, Ruf in LF play Utley at 1st, M.Young at 2nd and call up Asche
