Glen Perkins pitched (and got a save) with his fly down

Jul 20, 2013, 11:30 AM EST

Glen Perkins tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the Twins last night, converting his 22nd save in 24 chances while lowering his ERA to 1.77. And as the All-Star closer revealed via Twitter shortly afterward, he was pitching with his fly down:

St. Paul Pioneer Press photographer Ben Garvin got some visual evidence, snapping a picture of Perkins on the mound, mid-zip:

All the more reason why most Twins fans will be devastated if the team trades Perkins.

Talk about a ball hanging over the plate!

Its really a shame Glen isn’t superstitious. I’d go fly down for all save situations at least for the 1st two outs.

A balls out effort, no doubt.
