Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez will spend some more time in Tampa now that he has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain of his quadriceps. Rodriguez was moved from third base to designated hitter prior to last night’s rehab game, then was subsequently scratched from today’s lineup. There was hope that he was nearing the end of his time in Tampa and he would join the Yankees to start the next week, but that will be pushed back at least one more week according to Bob Nightengale.

Rodriguez turns 38 years old on July 27 and has yet to play in 2013. He is earning $28 million this season and is owed $86 million from 2014-17. With 647 career home runs to his name, he receives a $6 million bonus for reaching 660. The Biogenesis scandal has put that milestone in jeopardy as Major League Baseball expressed interest in suspending him for at least 100 games.

The Yankees are like a real life version of the Bad Luck Brian meme.

I’m sure the New York papers will have a field day with this:
    Grade 1 quad strain-
Jeter- wants to help team so badly.
A-Rod- rushed back so he can retire and rip-off Yankees.

You’re forgetting context. Derek injured his quad rushing into a burning building to save a puppy. Alex injured his after setting fire to a building so he could cook and eat a puppy.

“Alex injured his after setting fire to a building so he could cook and eat a puppy.’

Mike Lupica, .. is that you?

Oh my God! He absorbed Jeter’s pain so the Captain could return to the field! Thou art noble, Lord Centaur and a True Yankee. His quad injury is your quad injury. What a teammate!

That’s a nice change from all those years of absorbing Jeter’s ….

      Hey kids – It’s a fill-in-the-blanks contest for A-Rod haters!

I sont think its a coincidence that he got a “quad straign” one day before he was supposed to report to the MLB roster….

Bet good money the Yankees have inside commissioner scoop on looming Biogenesis suspension for Arod, and don’t want Arod around when the Circus comes to town following the announcement. Suspend him for life already and get it over with. I am sick of even seeing his name in print, and the sooner he is gone the better for baseball.
