Cubs legend Ernie Banks joined Pearl Jam on stage Friday night at Wrigley Field for a short rendition of the song “All The Way,” Eddie Vedder’s fantastic tribute to Chicago’s lovable losers. Via Deadspin:

I’m up to my nostrils editing galleys for a forthcoming book and had sworn not to blink until I got done but this was definitely worth sticking my head up for and exclaiming “way cool Bubba!”

This is how Pearl Jam came back from a two hour rain delay Friday night. It was amazing to see live.

So much wrong here, but at least no Jim Belushi.

After a stoppage that lasted just shy of three hours, I suspect this moment came far later than Ernie expected (it was midnight), but even at that late hour and 82 years of age, he looked and sounded good. The concert was great, even after such a long delay.
