Mets place Shaun Marcum on release waivers

Jul 23, 2013, 6:15 PM EDT

Per the Mets official Twitter:

Marcum went 1-10 with a 5.29 ERA over 12 starts and two relief appearances spanning 78.1 innings. He missed most of April recovering from a pinched nerve in his neck. He was then shut down after his July 6 start due to thoracic outlet syndrome in his right shoulder.

ESPN’s Adam Rubin notes Marcum will not receive any of the performance bonuses in his contract as they are based on playing time. The Mets signed Marcum in January on a one-year, $4 million contract after he was passed over by a number of other teams.

Well that signing worked out as well as expected.

This was one of the bluejays big prospects a few years back, I see he is doing the samething he always did with the jays. Maybe they will sign him back
