After taking foul balls off the mask in back-to-back games, Athletics catcher John Jaso has been placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list. Stephen Vogt has replaced him on the active roster and should serve as Derek Norris‘ backup until Jaso is ready to return.

Jane Lee of MLB.com reported this afternoon that vision tests on Jaso came back normal after he left yesterday’s game, but he was still feeling dizziness. The Athletics obviously didn’t want to take any chances, so they’ll see where he is a few days from now.

Jaso, who was acquired from the Mariners over the winter in a three-team deal, is batting .271/.387/.372 with three home runs and 21 RBI in 70 games this season.

A Ray called up to replace a Ray. The worst trade in Rays history was Jaso for Josh Lueke.

    1) Jaso is really, really good at getting on base. 2) He’s a catcher. 3) He’s a catcher with speed. 4) Josh Lueke is a rapist. I suppose 4 should have been 1. Hopefully Craig doesn’t admonish and berate me to a worldwide audience. I’m not a 17 year old blogger managing a site after 7th period gets out or anything.

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/19/sorry-i-dont-have-to-appreciate-the-way-josh-lueke-has-persevered/ (It’s been 5 months man. You update stories all the time. You should have updated the story to at least include his heartfelt apology and your reaction, which is here: http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/20/a-young-blogger-admits-a-mistake-and-apologizes/ ). The kid works his ass off writing smart and insightful pieces that you obviously read from time to time. How bout an update so google’s first listing of him isn’t NBC sports ripping him to shreds, but instead a kid learning a serious lesson.

For what it is worth, I was D-O-N-E here after the way this was handled. I am somewhat back. I’ve been here for a long time. I remember when there was a fake Mrs Calcaterra. I remember ceps before he was cepts. I remember Purdueman. I remember when El Bravo was Jason(ElBravo)Heyward. I remember when Berg and I were the only Rays fans. Now it seems like there is a dozen of us here. I didn’t come here for 4 months because of this story. I was really genuinely pissed, and still am.

Craig: You repost a lot of other people’s stuff. I mean ALOT! If I wrote about sports for a living, I would dread the day HBT summarized my article, providing only a tiny hyperlink to my article somewhere within the summary. I enjoy HBT because most of the time, you have a better take on things than traditional sports writers. I come here because I see stories here I don’t see elsewhere. But when you so casually rip off other people’s writings, perhaps you should at least bother to click their biography. If you would have done that, you would have seen that this horrible person who thought Lueke had redeemed himself liked things like “science classs”, “going to the movies with friends”, and undoubtedly, —-Prom. Dude, amend that first story you wrote to at least include one of your hyperlinks to his apology.
