According to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com, Josh Hamilton is back in the starting lineup for tonight’s game against the Athletics after missing the past three games with right ankle stiffness.

Hamilton told the Los Angeles Times earlier this week that he began feeling symptoms when he woke up on Monday. He was diagnosed with inflammation following X-rays and an MRI and received a cortisone shot to deal with the pain. It has apparently done its job, as he’ll play right field and bat cleanup tonight.

Hamilton is batting just .223/.279/.409 with 14 home runs and 41 RBI through 92 games this season. His .688 OPS is lower than the likes of John Buck and Ben Revere.

Omg, Texas made such a huge mistake not signing this guy long term. The ankle soreness is due to the fact that he is left footed and turns the bases different than other players. It is not Josh’s fault, he is not injury prone and he is totally worth the money. God just wanted him to rest.

Okay, this isn’t as obviously sarcastic as I initially thought it was. Tough one.

Seems like such measures would be used for MVP candidates on pennant contenders. I think this situation is 0 for 2.
