Brian Wilson has five offers

Jul 29, 2013, 3:51 PM EDT

The former Giants closer will soon have his pick of playoff contenders, it seems:

Kinda hard to see how Wilson and Kirk Gibson would get along. But maybe Kirk Gibson is more wanting of relief help than no-nonsense grit these days. And maybe Wilson, so far removed from the spotlight, is going to be less of an eccentric than he once was.

If he can bring anything to the pen, please let him choose the buccos!

Definitely where he belongs. If he can help them get to the postseason he’d be quite the hero on that team. And he could dye his beard rust color.

Even as a Giants fan, I would love to see that.

Anyone seen a recent pic? Is he still rocking that stupid beard?

    • kevinbnyc - Jul 29, 2013 at 5:24 PM

I think you meant “Is he still looking resplendent with that marvelous growth of hair upon his visage?”

      • commonsenseisnotcmonman - Jul 29, 2013 at 5:26 PM

        Yes, this

      • Old Gator - Jul 29, 2013 at 6:20 PM

He has ample precedent for his beard in American history. For example:http://bibliobulimica.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/herman-melville.jpg

I guess we’re to assume the Phillies are out of the running now that they are sellers.

        Thank you.

Looks like the Dodgers and Giants are the other two NL teams. Do you think the Tigers are still interested after picking up Jose Veras?

I doubt it, but I’m still wondering if there’s an outside chance. I was hopeful.

The GMs look at stats instead of personality traits. It usually isn’t until the player has been acquired and the damage is done that the GMs discover “team chemistry” and resort to the famous “addition by subtraction”. If the Giants aren’t in on Wilson, every GM who’s considering Wilson should make a phone call to Bruce Bochy.

Okay. Everyone’s seen your idiot stick looking beard. Get rid of it. You look like a flipping moron.

  8. 1historian - Jul 30, 2013 at 9:36 AM

If nothing else works out he can always go back to the Beach-Boys

  9. neilbarne - Jul 30, 2013 at 11:40 AM

Bring the beard to the burgh…i’m sure he could morph his gimmick into a pirate esque thing…it could be awesome. The pirates could use another arm in the pen and don’t have to give up anything to get him…
