Jake Peavy likely to be scratched today: is a trade near?

Stuff that only happens at the trade deadline: a healthy pitcher scratched. That’s what Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune is reporting about  Jake Peavy. Gonzalez says Peavy is unlikely to make his scheduled start against the Indians today.

This certainly suggests that a trade is near, as teams in negotiations for players would prefer it if they could use them as soon as the trade is done. If Peavy pitched today he’d not be available until Sunday.

Someone likely wants him now.

I just love that photo. Though it makes me think Peavy is 59 years old and that’s a vintage photo.

As an Indians fan, I think this means that so far the Tribe is winning the trade deadline by missing Peavy.

I agree if the Red Sox pull off the same thing. I want to develop prospects, use them until they will make too much money then trade them.

      The Rays have mastered this.

The blosox should trade Humphrey Bogarts, Jackie Wilson Jr. and Julio Iglesias for Cliff Lee and Mike Young – I want to see them stick to the Theo / Stankee plan!!

I look forward to the time when any reference to The Hawk will be punishable by a fine or some hard time in prison.

Whatever team picks him up (of course a top 5) might as well start planning for their championship parade. He’s worth ur top prospects,

In my opinion, the Orioles should try and get him. It’s possible they don’t like the amount of money owed to him.
