Pirates acquire infielder Robert Andino from Mariners

Jul 31, 2013, 10:14 PM EDT

Despite a couple of valiant efforts, the Pirates were unable to pull off a big trade deadline move. But it wasn’t a completely inactive day for the club. Here’s Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN in Seattle:

Andino was outrighted off the Mariners’ 40-man roster in late May and has posted a weak .232/.294/.318 career batting line in 1,467 major league plate appearances. But he possesses decent speed, a good glove and can play all around the diamond. He will head to Triple-A Indianapolis for the time being.

Meanwhile the buccos are now 7-2 against the cards (losses go to jonathan “DFA” sanchez and james “god awful” mcdonald)…2.5 games up going into august.

Looking for a playoff series win!!! Would be the first playoffs ive seen them in since i was 4…4 yrs old…

Might be a little more enthusiastic in your support if your handle referred to the Pirates or Pittsburgh or something general instead of the perennial playoff football team — but yeah, I feel your pain. Would love to see the Pirates back in the playoffs. Underdogs rock!

Yes, yes they do. Heck, if the Pirates stop being the underdog, I just might have to find a new nickname!

    Pbastille,

My handle was created about 7 or 8 years ago when PFT was the only “____sports talk” around (also when i was like 17-19 yrs old…). When nbc acquired PFT and made all the other sports talk, the account was active for all of them then…

If they all were created back then, it would be something like “BurghSports438722″

    (For troy, crosby, and cutch…)

That may fit your ideal handle better, eh?
