Lance Berkman: not done yet

Aug 1, 2013, 5:18 PM EDT

Lance Berkman‘s knee is a mess and he’s hinted that his race may be run.  But he’s still going to try to rehab it:

Legitimate improvement? A realization that walking away from the game means forfeiting a few million dollars left on his deal over the last two months of the season? Who knows? It would be nice to see Berkman play again, however.

Well yeah if he retires now he leaves like 2 million on the table. So he’s gonna be like “yeah I thought long and hard about it, but you know I think I can do this” knowing the whole time he won’t be effective because it’s 2 months for 2 million dollars.

So I guess now everybody is going to take back those “selfless” comments?

Here’s hoping Berkman is able to get back on the field (or at least back in a DH role) and contribute to the Rangers next year.

Oops, obviously meant “this” year. I’d be very surprised if we see Berkman next year.

a Berkman 50% is about 20% on an average scale.

    You’re not fooling anyone.

I’m sure the money has a lot to do with it. but I’m sure as an athlete he wants to go out on his terms

Whatever he does, he better retire an Astro.

Not sure what you mean, but I think I know what you mean. I think in his mind he was always an Astro. I don’t think he will get the HOF. But he belongs on the list of Astros greats. I’m glad he got that WS Ring as a Card, though.
