Miguel Montero placed on the disabled list

Miguel Montero has had a bad back for some time. It’s gotten too bad so the Dbacks are placing him on the 15-day disabled list. Wil Nieves will take over backstop duties in Arizona.

Given Montero’s track record I fully expect him to give an interview in two weeks in which he tells us, in no uncertain terms, what he thinks of that freakin’ stupid, chickens**t, immature disabled list.

Did the Diamondbacks come over and TP your house or something? Why the constant hate? Just curious, but to me they’re not nearly relevant enough to hate as much as you do. Maybe it’s because they knocked the Braves out of the playoffs in 2001?

Think Ian Kennedy’s headhunting, Brawlgate and Montero’s public comments about Puig that place him squarely in the Papelbon douche category.

Think about the constant lame-ass quips about grit and a constant insistence about how stupid all of their moves are (CC has written at least 3 times how terrible the contract for Aaron Hill was.) Name any team in baseball and I could point out at least six things they’ve done that are stupid, and yet Craig has a giant boner for the Diamondbacks why? I don’t care, I just don’t get it. I understand hating the Yankees or Red Sox or Phillies … but all those teams have been relevant with at least some consistency.

Also, just fyi, Kennedy doesn’t have the control to be a headhunter. If he’s come within twelve inches of hitting a target all year it was just blind luck. This isn’t Pedro cruising along with amazing command and then mysteriously letting one get away. This is pitch after pitch having virtually zero control. I’m sure he’s tried to hit hitters and I know he went at Greinke, but to imply he tried to hit him where he did is to claim he has good control. And that’s just plain stupid.

I don’t hate the Diamondbacks at all. I think the “grit” thing was dumb. I think Miguel Montero should probably stop talking smack about people. But they don’t bother me a bit in any actual way.
