Bryce Harper apparently didn’t feel right during batting practice on Tuesday evening at Nationals Park, so he shaved clean before first pitch and then launched a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning to push the Nats ahead of the Braves 1-0, but Atlanta won 2-1 for a season-high 12th straight win.

And here’s the replay¬†of Harper going deep to dead center. Notice the lengthy initial trot:

Harper was hit in the thigh by Braves pitcher Julio Teheran on the first pitch of his next at-bat. He pointed toward Teheran and the benches cleared, but no punches were thrown. Busy night for the 20-year-old.

The league really needs to remove the teams twitter handles or at least provide better guidance. There is already some hard feelings being expressed and there is no need to further stoke the fires. This twitter nonsense between teams should be stopped before someone gets injured. As far as Bryce’s answering of questions he is young and will learn that it is not just what you have to say but also how you say it. I would have been upset if I was him as well, but he has to realize there are people who get paid by blowing things like this out of proportion. Espn is playing the incident every 15-20 minutes and the more they can get out of it the less work they will have to do on a show or story.

Considering how the whole thing went down, his comments were rather benign.

What a role model…Harper needs to shut his mouth and just take his base. He should have gotten thrown from the game for trying to escalate the situation with all that obscene language. Someone needs to kick his ass and put him in his place, cause apparently nobody ever has and he could definitely use some humble pie. I wouldn’t let my kids buy his jersey, he is a horrible human being.

“There goes the no hitter in a big way”

I think the bottom of the 3rd is a little early for that.
