HBT Daily: How many wins will Max Scherzer get?

Aug 9, 2013, 1:19 PM EDT

He’s 17-1. He probably has 9 or 10 starts left. Will he keep up the torrid pace?

  1. Detroit Michael - Aug 9, 2013 at 1:27 PM

None. It was a trick question. Wins are a team statistic and no single player accumulates wins.

If you asked inhow many games would Scherzer’s team take the lead while he was in the game and not relinquish the lead after Scherzer left the game, then we’d have a real contest on our hands. :-)

25 gabillion and yes. Also, Max hit the 1K career K’s milestone and that also will go to 25 gabillion. And that’s no royalist metric BS either!

25 gabillion and yes? Have another Molson sister. :)

      17-11

So much pressure when you’re on top. Hopefully he’s taking tips from Verlander on how to deal with questions like this and the pressures that come with it. Fortunately, I think the Tigers are playing well enough that Scherzer and the rest of the team are focused more on enjoying the game, rather than the pressures that tend to follow you when you’re on top.

He’ll get 25 wins and a cy young.

  5. Jonny 5 - Aug 9, 2013 at 2:53 PM

How many more appearances will he have? That many, minus 2.

    • unclemosesgreen - Aug 9, 2013 at 7:44 PM

So let’s say he has 10 starts and 1 relief appearance left in the regular season. You think he could go 17-14??

I applaud your Rove’ian math and wish I’d thought of that. 17-11 wasn’t trolly enough.

24-1. Top 5 seasons since Pedro 13 years ago:
    Verlander season
    Greinke season
    King Felix season
    Scherzer
    Halladay

I got max down for 22 or 20 more then Josh “2 wins” Johnson, hows that?

  8. creator69 - Aug 9, 2013 at 7:00 PM

A friend and I were talking about this the other day and I said I think if He loses anymore games I could see him around 26-27 wins which would mean 2-3 total losses.
