The Roots wrote Derek Jeter some new walkup music

Aug 9, 2013, 11:03 AM EDT

All kinds of baseball on the late night shows last night. Following up on Mark Cuban on Jay Leno, Derek Jeter was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, where he auditioned some possible new walkup music by The Roots and Fallon.

Option three is actually pretty freakin’ sweet. He’ll never use it because he doesn’t roll that way, but he totally should.

If this was any other player, people would FREAK the hell out that he is spending his time doing TV spots instead of rehabbing and trying to get back on the field.

And he puts one of them in every gift basket.

Jeter should walk up to some classic Eagles like “The long run” just seems fitting. Anyway it was a funny segment on the Fallon show.

“Cat scratch fever” seems more fitting to me.

As solid as number three is, I have to say I’d root for anyone who had a song like choice number 1 play every time they came to the plate.

They should play the theme from Sanford and Son every time he geezers up to the plate.

If you had number 3 as your actual walk up music, how could you NOT stroll up to the plate with the biggest pimp walk ever?

aka “Jack, the ripper”. Jack was also known as being one of the least intelligent players in MLB. But on Pujols, I’d say he may be correct. Honestly, to me, the entire Bud Selig* era is corrupted. Bud knew*, the billionaire owners* knew but liked the money. For that, MLB’s legacy is in the toilet. Stats, records, awards, titles – All worthless and not to be taken seriously.

Still cant believe anyone watches this guy and I really can believe they are taking Leno off late night for this guy, the next funny thing Fallon says or does will be his first.
