Ryan Ludwick, who’s been out since separating his shoulder on Opening Day, is off the disabled list and back in the Reds’ lineup for tonight’s game against the Cubs.

Ludwick is batting sixth and playing left field, where the Reds have gotten the majors’ fourth-worst OPS in his absence. Cincinnati left fielders have combined to hit .241 with 10 homers and a .684 OPS in 117 games, whereas Ludwick hit .275 with 26 homers and an .877 OPS in 125 games last season before re-signing on a two-year, $15 million contract.

Glad to see him back. Here’s to hoping he makes a full recovery!

Hopefully he’ll make it thru an entire game this time.

Unfortunately, I think Jocketty and Baker are too optimistic about Ludwick, and they should have looked harder for an OF bat while Ludwick was injured. Ludwick had three good months last year, but was pretty horrid for 2 1/2 seasons before that. Plus, he’s 35 and coming off a rough injury. I sure hope he hits like he did post-ASB last year, but I highly doubt he will.

If he can provide similar numbers from last year here on out , this is huge for the reds. I always felt like they have 4 good hitters choo, bp, votto, Bruce and not much else. Get another guy in there batting 6th who can drive in some runs.. Should be good.
