Matt Holliday sprained his ankle last night. But he’s tough: he’s back in the lineup today reports Fox Sports Midwest.

Holliday is batting .439/.549/.659 in August. The Cardinals are playing the Pirates with the division lead on the line. Of course he’s playing.

Tough? Of course he’s playing? I like the sarcasm. Same dude that of course set out game 7 of the world series with a bruised pinky finger.

Earlier that season, he came back to play just nine days after an emergency appendectomy. Yes, he is tough.

Cardinals sat him for Game 7. They didn’t want a guy with a jammed finger on his throwing hand playing in an elimination game.

Correction…he had actually sprained his wrist, not his finger.

That is nice and all, but it is great to see Miller looking strong and comfortable after getting hit by a line drive on his pitching elbow last week.

Gateway to the west: St. Louis.
