Boston fan taunts Alex Rodriguez with a misspelled sign

Aug 19, 2013, 9:14 AM EDT

So much went on in last night’s Red Sox-Yankees game. So much of it dumb. This may have been the dumbest.

It’s one thing to hate A-Rod. It’s another thing to sit down and make a sign to bring with you to the ballpark to advertise your hate for A-Rod. But it’s a third thing altogether to misspell the word “Loser” in that sign and have it show up on national television.  The screencap from CJ Folger:

There are so many reasons to hate Rodriguez. There were so many things coming out of Boston yesterday to undermine it.

      LOOL

      • fanofevilempire - Aug 19, 2013 at 10:17 AM

        so basically it’s, T.O. A-Rod = A- looser

        HEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH

  2. commonsenseisnotcmonman - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:22 AM

Assuming he was intending to address A-Rod with the poster using “to” he also spelled that T.O.

  3. losangelesfan - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:22 AM

Maybe he knows something about ARod’s stool.

    Get a brain, morans!

    • chip56 - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:31 AM

you stole that from Keith Law.

      • churchoftheperpetuallyoutraged - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:50 AM

Um, it’s a meme, not something Klaw created.

      Morans??

Click the link I posted, or google the phrase.

  5. philsgamer - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:30 AM

    A looser what?

  6. stevem7 - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:33 AM

Doesn’t surprise me any. Boston lives by the MOB MENTALITY that it’s okay to be a THUG so spelling is the least of their worries.

  7. chill1184 - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:37 AM

    LOL that picture is perfect

  8. b453841l - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:40 AM

I saw a bunch of signs where the fans misspelled “A-rod” “A-fraud.” What a bunch of idiots at that game in Boston!

    • 1historian - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:53 AM

FYI – I am now an old coot and proud of it and grateful for it and living FAAAAAR away from Boston.

I can remember living there in the early 70s and going to Fenway Park and paying $2 (not a spelling error – two dollars) for a seat in the bleachers and there were some other guys there (out of not many) and we all got wasted and a few times we talked to Reggie Jackson, who found us amusing. Good memories.

Would I even think of going there now? Not a chance.

  9. honestjohng - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:57 AM

First of all, I live in Boston but love the Yankees. The ball park would never be sold out if it wasn’t for all of the “free tickets” given out to sponsors, etc. since 25% of the people there could never afford it. As to the spelling, I’ll use the 25% once again. One quarter of Red Sox fans couldn’t tell which way the elevator was going if you gave them two guesses..

    • davemvh - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:15 AM

      You are an idiot.

      • yournuts - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:45 AM

davemvh, at least he’s not a looser.

      • kevinbnyc - Aug 19, 2013 at 1:05 PM

I think you meant “Your an idiot.”

  10. Charles Gates - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:57 AM

    Losah…

  11. rickdobrydney - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:58 AM

Just typical … I would say that 50% of the people that post on blogs (or create signs) have NO idea how to use correct spelling OR punctuation.

  12. banger60 - Aug 19, 2013 at 10:06 AM

a,b,c,d,e,f, etc, now try to form a word, l o s e r, very good little Jimmy. You Boston fans, lololol!

  13. yahmule - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:04 AM

This particular misspelling has been my pet peeve for years. Made even worse because you generally find it emphasized in all caps and accompanied by other spelling and grammatical misadventures at the end of some overheated screed: “ARod Your a LOOSER!”

  14. davemvh - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:13 AM

Better to be illiterate than a juiced up cheater.

    • 18thstreet - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:29 AM

Depends on your line of work.

    • yournuts - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:47 AM

davemvh, you think? You can stop cheating, but you never stop being illiterate.

      • ilovekneegrows - Aug 19, 2013 at 3:14 PM

        Zing!

  15. koufaxmitzvah - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:16 AM

    Loooooosers are stooooooopid… Duh.

  16. banger60 - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:21 AM

we start out talking about the articles then start calling each other names, I’ve been guilty of this but I still find it hilarious, lol!

  17. km9000 - Aug 19, 2013 at 11:45 AM

    Opps!

  18. yankees218 - Aug 19, 2013 at 12:35 PM

Haven’t we already discussed the fact that Boston fans are illiterate??

    • km9000 - Aug 19, 2013 at 1:38 PM

Let’s be honest… This could’ve happened anywhere in America.

I’ll give our Canadian friends the benefit of the doubt.

  19. classicfinder - Aug 19, 2013 at 1:19 PM

    Wicked funny.

  20. stuffforcurt - Aug 19, 2013 at 1:25 PM

Hey smart guy… the whole purpose of your article is to mock the stupid Boston fan for misspelling something. Guess what, you misspelled the name of the guy whose twitter provided the picture.

    • km9000 - Aug 19, 2013 at 2:35 PM

He just secretly replaced Fogler’s name with “Folger,” and wanted to see if he’d notice…

  21. 13fitzj - Aug 19, 2013 at 2:31 PM

And this is the best-educated state in our union…

    • drewsylvania - Aug 19, 2013 at 4:43 PM

Most colleges per capita in the U.S. But nobody really wants to live in Boston. The students get their degrees and either leave or enter the workforce intending to eventually leave the city. Leaving the townies…

  22. jwbiii - Aug 19, 2013 at 9:27 PM

And what does the flag of the Netherlands have to do with this?

  23. largebill - Aug 20, 2013 at 9:11 AM

Looser is a common mistake lately, but it has a way to go before it reaches the top of list of stupid mistakes people make regularly. To, too and two, their, there and they’re, your and you’re and other wrong word usages have too large a lead to be caught anytime soon. I attribute some of these errors to computer spell check functions. People have a false sense of correctness when they don’t get an indicator saying a word is misspelled. Spell check will highlight “computor” as misspelled but won’t say that “there stuff” should be “their stuff.” Years ago, when I ran an office I disabled the spellcheck function on all our computers. My junior sailors didn’t like it, but I told them if they are not 100% sure how to spell a word grab the dictionary off the shelf.

  24. andyreidisfat - Aug 20, 2013 at 4:34 PM

Yes Craig, the real story is the moron who can’t spell. lets all gang up on him because he is the one who the story should be about. Not the roided up l”oo”ser who stole two giant contracts by cheating, has taken illegal drugs (which if it was pot in texas and he were poor he would be in jail for life) he has purposefully tryed to stop investigators and most likely he enticed others to use these same drugs, no thats not the story at all. In fact we should write 35 posts a day defending the cheater. And throw in a few where we pick one stupid person out of the 100 million that hate this guy and hold him up in some way…..

Craig sir, you are worse than A-rod. Your not even the guy who sits by watches and does nothing, your the guy who sits by watches and does nothing then defends the bad guys. Get a life man. Get off A-rods shriveled B@lls and frequent and painful erections (if you remember the poster in health class about roids you know what i mean) LOOSER
