Wade Davis gave up seven earned runs on eight hits and three walks in a six-inning start Saturday against the Nationals, watching his season ERA climb to 5.67 and his WHIP jump to 1.76. He will not take another turn in the Kansas City starting rotation.

According to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, the 27-year-old right-hander was officially demoted to the Royals’ bullpen on Tuesday and 24-year-old left-hander Danny Duffy will be called up to claim the vacant rotation spot Wednesday versus the Twins.

The Royals acquired Davis from the Rays in that six-player offseason trade that was headlined by James Shields and Wil Myers.

It’s a deal that keeps looking worse and worse for Kansas City.

The acquisition wasn’t the problem. The problem was Kansas City’s asinine insistance on using him in the rotation. There was a reason that Joe Maddon demoted him to the bullpen: he wasn’t cut out to be a starter. He excelled as a reliever in 2012, and then what happens? Kansas City turns around and plugs him back in the rotation. Why they did this is beyond me, but what makes it even worse is their unwillingness to admit that it was a dumb idea and pull him sooner.

He is not a starter. He is a reliever. KC should’ve used him as such. Instead, they screwed him up and made him look bad, and now the trade looks even worse.

So no, Dayton Moore, the Royals are not “ahead of schedule” because there IS no schedule because you guys clearly have no idea what the hell you’re doing.

my neighbor’s aunt makes $85 an hour on the internet. She has been laid off for five months but last month her payment was $21629 just working on the internet for a few hours. Read more on this web site…

She makes $85 an hour for getting laid on the internet and has earned the grand total of $21,629? That is poverty.

I don’t even recall KC even bringing up Meyers after rosters expanded the last couple of years to see what they had. Did he ever get a Sept. call-up?

If not, it was a gigantic mistake. Trading the #1 prospect in all of baseball for a 32 yr old starter who is not a true ace, and a reliever cum starter…without seeing Meyers ever face MLB pitching….was one of the dumbest moves by any organization in my memory, and I have been watching MLB since 1957. Meyers has Trout-like talent, and if KC HAD to trade for pitching, they should have held out for David Price, or NO DEAL. Both pitchers they got, Shields and Davis, will be trivia questions in a couple years while Meyers may win several MVPs. A monster talent, basically given away by a GM desperately trying to win to save his job. Awful decision even at the time of the trade, made even worse by Meyers tearing up MLB pitching, and little to show for it. The Royals took Hochever over Kershaw in the draft, and the Meyers trade will probably haunt them more than missing out on the best 25 yr old pitcher in the game, Kershaw.

Good move, Duffy can do a lot better than Davis. I’m thinking he’ll start on Thu vice Wed but I could be wrong.

James Shields will be long gone and Will Myers will be tearing it up in TB for years to come.

Ok 1st its well documented that I was never a fan of the trade last off-season. That said what is done is done timeto move on. Yes the royals will probably not make the post season but I will say as a fan who has only seen 1 winning season in 20 yrs finishing above 500 is a marked improvement. I belive resigning Santana for next yr is very important so Mr glass needs to put up or shut up and he doesn’t really want to play with money sell this team to someone who can or does. The rotation next yr of shields, Santana, Guthrie, Duffy, and Ventura should be nice. The rf I would target would be beltran that should help the offense.

Myers was never called up with the Royals because they did not want to start his service time and have to add him to the 40 man roster.

or, Ned & Dayton didn’t want to take playing time away from Frenchy. Which makes no sense to anyone else. But if you’ve seen this front office operate…is not surprising.

As soon as Duffy was ready this move should have been made.

If you really want a good laugh, and aren’t sure whether Dayton Moore needs to be fired, you need to read this article.

Jeffery Flannagan is the Glass Family’s personal beat reporter, so he always get the best delusional quotes out of them and Dayton Moore.
