Eduardo Nunez left Tuesday’s game after injuring his right knee and had to be scratched from the lineup Wednesday, but fortunately for the Yankees, he won’t have to miss significant time.

According to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News, an MRI on Nunez’s knee came back negative earlier today. He’s considered day-to-day.

Nunez is batting just .248/.303/.332 with one home run, 20 RBI, and eight stolen bases over 69 games this season, but he has been much improved this month. The 26-year-old was relegated to a utility infielder role following the return of Derek Jeter earlier this week, but he should still see plenty of playing time down the stretch.

I don’t believe it. The Yankees have a guy who’s only 26 on their roster??

That’s good news for both him AND the team he plays for.

Well….it’s good news for him anyways.

yea I’m suprised too. Gardner is one of the younger bucks and he’s already 30! time flys by. Next year our youngest infielder will be 32. IF Cano is resigned. Ichiro will be 40 and Sori will be 38/39. Crazy when you see how old the team is. 😦

And yet with all of the elderly players and many, many injuries to the young and old, the Yankees are still 7 over in the win column and only 5 games out of the wild card race. Superb job by Girardi and his staff this year.
