Yasiel Puig to sit out today but he’s probably OK

Sep 3, 2013, 8:53 AM EST

Yasiel Puig left yesterday’s game with a mild right knee strain. The latest on his status:

That said, the Dodgers don’t seem to be too worried about their young superstar. And, frankly, given that they have a 12.5 game lead in the NL West, making sure he’s healthy and ready to go in October is more important than him going out and hurting himself in the first week of September.

Davey Lopes needs to help him with his sliding. Whether he goes head first or first feet, he tears himself up. The slide into third yesterday just looked painful all the way around.

I have a question for the fine baseball minds who post on this board.

Who would you rather have on your team beginning in 2014: Yasiel Puig or Bryce Harper?

Hmmm, that’s a really good question. As a Dodgers fan, I’m pretty happy with Puig. Harper’s certainly got a lot of talent, though. I wouldn’t be unhappy if the Dodgers had him instead.

Wait, wait . . . can we have both? :)

probally take Bryce Harper. puig seems like a guy who will hurt himself down the road

…as opposed to Harper, who has already hurt himself a couple times this year?

Both guys are studs at the plate and have the ability to be stud defenders (cannons for arms, speed, etc). Both are a little too aggressive for their own good. As a Dodger fan, I’m stoked to have Puig, but if given the chance to swap… I’d probably take Harper, if only because he’s a couple years younger.

Well, the good news is that’s not the stupidest comment of the day.
