Pirates outfielder Starling Marte was placed on the disabled list August 24 with a right hand contusion.

It was thought of as a fairly minor injury at the time, but Marte is still nowhere close to being activated.

Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the 24-year-old “cannot let loose throwing” and has “yet to take swings two-handed” due to lingering pain in his right hand. Which means that it will be at least another two weeks before Marte is able to play in a game. He was eligible to for activation on Tuesday.

Marte was batting .282/.343/.443 with 11 home runs, 35 steals and 79 runs scored in 118 games this season as the Pirates’ primary leadoff man.

He also boasts a major-league best 10 triples.

Funny how ROOT Sports said he took swings with both hands on the bat today.

ROOT Sports has also shown the judgment of an inebriated rodeo clown by continuing to employ Greg “Trip-trip-triple!” Brown as the primary play-by-play man on Pirates television broadcasts. It’s a crime that the video and audio clips of the milestones in this historic season in team history will be decimated by the five-year-old child screeching antics of Greg “Mercer Mercer Me!” Brown.

Amen babyfark. Greg Brown is a pathetic disgrace for a professional broadcaster and he ruins the enjoyment of something that should be a cause for joy. He is extremely poor at his job and he is a narrow-minded bigot with his “two scoops of vanilla comments.” and his hating on players like Brandon Phillips and Alfonso Soriano. He has never done anything authentic or original in his life so he despises anyone with the courage and confidence to challenge norms. It is very clear that he keeps his job only by doing whatever management wants him to. He’d hawk Sarin Gas if management told him to. Brandon Phillips probably ridiculed him as a clown and he’s responding by attacking. Yet, he prasises Rob McKovaiac, the DUI guy. He’s a joke and he’s making a joke of a great Pirates season. Thanks for confirming my observations. .
