Salvador Perez took a hard foul ball off his mask in the top of the fifth of today’s Royals-Mariners game. He stayed in for a while and even hit an RBI single in the bottom of the innings, but then he was removed.

Perez suffered a concussion earlier this summer, returning less than a month ago, so this is likely a better-safe-than-sorry move.

Hope he is OK. He is a very good catcher.

In the game itself, Seattle got off to a 5 to 0 lead, but KC has rallied to now lead by 6 to 5 after 7 innings.

This is not good. The Royals need that guy right now. (It’s September and the Royals need a guy. Weird problem for me to get used to.)

That was a hard shot, right on the chin. I was surprised he stayed in the game at all, because he slumped backward like he had taken a punch from a prize fighter.

Jeez. Hope Sally’s ok. He’s fun to watch play ball.
