Report: Alex Rodriguez’s hearing set for September 30

Alex Rodriguez appealed the 211-game suspension handed down by Major League Baseball. The resolution will begin in New York on September 30, reports ESPN’s Andrew Marchand. The 30th is the day after the regular season ends. If the Yankees — nine games out of first place in the AL East and 2.5 games behind the second Wild Card — happen to make the playoffs, the hearing could be postponed for a later date when Rodriguez would be available.

Rodriguez received the largest suspension, by far, of anyone involved in the Biogenesis scandal. He spent most of the season recovering from hip surgery to repair a torn labrum. He rehabbed from June 30 through August 3 before making his 2013 Major League debut on August 5 against the White Sox. Since returning, he has posted an .826 OPS with four home runs (giving him 651 in his career) in 113 plate appearances.
