HBT Daily: The NL Central and the Red Sox vs. Yankees

Sep 6, 2013, 1:00 PM EDT

At least I think that’s what we talk about today. I sort of went blank when, while talking to my producer Marc before we taped, he admitted that he had never heard of Depeche Mode. My God, they’re letting people like that near expensive audio and video equipment?

Mercy.

Depeche Mode? Liking some old ’80’s electronica band is your qualification for sound/video personnel? I’d be more concerned if they’d never heard of MC5.

Liking? It’s not even a matter of liking. It’s a matter of an awareness of the existence of Depeche Mode. I’m surprised you can get to the point in your life where you are qualified to be a producer and not have heard of a famous hit-making band from the fairly recent past.

Well, if you’re not “worldly”, would you be aware of a band whose highest Billboard “hit” reached #13 30 years ago? But, I know what you’re saying. Perhaps Iron Maiden would have been a better comparison than MC5.

It’s kind of like letting some sports bloggers loose on an NBC Sports blog.

So I take it Marc was born in the 80’s then?
