Justin Upton and Chris Johnson teamed up to bully the Phillie Phanatic

Sep 7, 2013, 9:55 PM EDT

Phanatic

The Braves are in Philadelphia for the last time this season, which means they were running out of time to “take care of” the Phillie Phanatic. While the team was stretching at Citizens Bank Park prior to tonight’s 7:05 start, Braves outfielder Justin Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson teamed up for some shenanigans. Johnson surreptitiously crept behind the Phanatic and hunched over, then Upton pushed the Phanatic into Johnson, tipping him over embarrassingly.

This is mascot abuse and it will not be tolerated. I, for one, think the Braves should be banned from the playoffs. What say you, Craig?

I would be ticked if I was the Phillie Phanatic.

Braves banned from the playoffs, eh? While I don’t particularly like the Braves, I think Johnson and Upton should be awarded some sort of medal for this. Plus, the Phanatic’s payback will be epic.

It would be a lot better if it was Kate Upton.

Don’t light a fire under the phillies they could still…….no? Carry on……

I think a walk off homer would be good karmic payback….but what are the odds of that happeneing?

      • baseballer28 - Sep 8, 2013 at 8:23 AM

        Pretty good apparently

    • sabatimus - Sep 8, 2013 at 12:05 AM

      Who exactly are the Barves?

  6. thebigtim2012 - Sep 7, 2013 at 10:30 PM

With all the negative going on in baseball this is great

  7. orangandblack - Sep 7, 2013 at 10:43 PM

The braves will ban themselves from the playoffs 3 games into the NLDS. Anyone know the last time a team made a deep playoff run with their lead off hitter batting in the .190′s??

Orangeandblack… Best record in MLB stfu

    • chloemerchant - Sep 7, 2013 at 11:53 PM

Having the best record in baseball during the regular season means very little in the playoffs since the wild cards were introduced. See for example 2012 Nats, 2011 Phillies, 2010 Phillies…

    • greymares - Sep 8, 2013 at 8:07 AM

the fact that they’re losing to the Phillies should tell you that they’re not that good.

Anyone else remember when Randall Simon whacked the sausage in Milwaukee with a bat?

    • 4d3fect - Sep 8, 2013 at 3:39 PM

*Beavis voice* “whacked the sausuage”–heh heh

  10. sabatimus - Sep 8, 2013 at 12:05 AM

The Philly Phanatic is the biggest asshole mascot in sports. Anything he gets is justified.

    • greymares - Sep 8, 2013 at 8:05 AM

      envious ?

  11. mc1439 - Sep 8, 2013 at 2:30 AM

He should have shanked them both in the neck acting playfull while everyone else is like “Dude! What the fuck?”

  12. dkphilly1122 - Sep 8, 2013 at 3:08 AM

The Phanatic is only hated outside of Philly……the stuff he does is hilarious and kids love just seeing him. This was awesome of The Real Upton Brother and Johnson. It’s nice to see players have fun some times…….some more so than others.

    • Jonestein - Sep 8, 2013 at 10:44 AM

I’m not in Philly and I freakin love the Phanatic. Hope he tags along if the Phillies ever come to Arlington.

  13. fukpittsburgh - Sep 8, 2013 at 4:39 AM

    Randall Simon 2.0

I love that they actually call it “Phanatic tipping.” That’s awesome.
