HBT Daily: Chris Sale, Buck Showalter and Jim Leyland

Sep 10, 2013, 12:30 PM EDT

. . . Walk into a bar. Then Leyland says …

I’m fairly certain Bucky Sho Sho would not stand a chance vs Girardi.

Yes, yes, we get it. Girardi is in good shape and younger than Buck. We saw the silly “my dad can beat up your dad” posts already. We aren’t talking about MMA here, we’re talking about two middle-aged men in an argument. Let’s try to stay on point.

“….. and so Leyland says he’s not an eggplant….”

    Then Leyland says…

…to the barkeep “Give this guy ten shots of the establishments finest single malt scotch” pointing at Sale. The bartender sets up Sale. Buck Showalter then nocks Sale’s hand away from the first shot in the row then takes it and pours it on the floor. He then takes the last one in line and does the same. The bartender asks him, “Why did you do that?” Showalter replies, “Well the first shot always tastes like crap, and the last one always makes him sick.”

Sale proceeds to drink the remaining 8, gets them all in and was doing well until Leyland punches him in the gut and Sale pukes them up and collapses in a heap.

Showalter looks at Sale, who’s lying on the floor in a pool of gently loved scotch, and says, “Man. You can’t win.”

“…Then she tells me, ‘RBIs are an unreliable way to evaluate an individual hitter’s performance.'” And that was the night I broke up with Rita Hayworth.”

Rita Hayworth? Of “Rita Hayworth gave good face” fame?
