Both Yadier and brother Bengie (the Cardinals’ assistant hitting coach) will not be at Busch Stadium on Wednesday due to what manager Mike Matheny described as a family situation. No further details were provided by the Cardinals, and there was no assurance that both Molinas would be back tomorrow.

Tony Cruz will start at catcher against the Brewers.

Yadi is batting .318/.358/.479 with 11 home runs and 65 RBI in 121 total games this season and the Cardinals are 71-44 in games started by him. So, uh, hopefully the situation isn’t too serious.

St. Louis is currently a half-game up on Pittsburgh in the National League Central standings.

Lobaton is catching for the Rays; so I wonder if all 3 brothers are out of action for the same reason.

    • stlouis1baseball - Sep 12, 2013 at 9:18 AM

Why yes…Mr. Obvious. I do believe they are most likely out for the same reason.
      Sorry…I couldn’t pass it up P.C.

Yes, but what is the family problem?

      • stlouis1baseball - Sep 12, 2013 at 9:29 AM

I wish I knew. Hopefully everything ultimately works out and they are back soon. Cause’ Yadi absolutely runs the show. From the pitchers to the pitches thrown, to defense, to defensive alignment, to his plate approach. Right in the middle of a pennant race no less. It can’t be good if all three are gone.

According to Rotoworld this morning, their mother had an operation in a St Louis hospital.

Thanks for the info. PC. I am going to check rotoworld as well.

I think that it is also on the team website.

    • stlouis1baseball - Sep 12, 2013 at 12:34 PM

Yeah…I checked the website but all it stated was “family situation.”

      Your name says it all.

The main thing is the Cardinals won tonight anyway, after the Reds and Pirates both won. This is an epic 3-way dog fight. It will be great to have Yadi back. But somehow Lynn pitched well anyway–who would have guessed? The Cards-Brewers game looked like it would be 12-10, but it was nothing like that. This is a great race in the NL Central; it looks like all 3 of them will be in the playoffs.

Did the Molinas have to do a gang initiation on someone? Bunch of loud mouth, blow hard wannabe cholos.

    • stlouis1baseball - Sep 12, 2013 at 9:27 AM

Choice stuff. A “blow hard” calling someone a “blow hard.”
And then he follows it up by referring to a Puerto Rican as a Mexican.
You are a tool. A moronic tool. A gigantic…moronic tool.
I am just struggling with which one of the two you most closely reflect.
I am going to go with tool. Followed ever so closely by moron.
And your Molina envy is embarrassing. I truly am embarrassed for you.

Don’t you need to back over at Pro Football Talk, troll?

If you are truly that ignorant, don’t waste our time.

Just follow your name back to your buddies at PFT.

Is there something putrid in the water in southern Ohio?

      • cincinata - Sep 12, 2013 at 11:59 AM

Hey, Hey, Hey: Don’t blame this on Southern Ohio. We are not all like the idiot Bengal Boy. Even though we do not care for Molina, the people with brains recognize that he is a great player and a fierce competitor. It is our teams job to defeat him on the field and not with foolish words. That doesn’t affect Molina in the least.

      • spudchukar - Sep 12, 2013 at 12:09 PM

I know you aren’t all like Bengal Boy, just glad someone who roots for the Reds calls him out. Good job. Thanks.
