Video: Prince Fielder snacks on a fan’s nachos after chasing foul ball

Sep 19, 2013, 7:32 PM EDT

In the top of the fifth inning this afternoon against the Mariners, Prince Fielder attempted to chase down a foul ball off the bat of catcher Mike Zunino. While he was unable to catch the ball, he didn’t walk away completely empty-handed.

The best part about that is that the fan appeared to be completely oblivious to Fielder’s presence until he swiped the nacho. He’s a sneaky one.

Fielder also snacked on Mariners’ pitching this afternoon, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. He had a game-tying single in the seventh inning and eventually scored the go-ahead run on a double by Victor Martinez.

He learned that trick from Delmon Young.

Only in Young’s case it was a plate of nachos, two chili dogs, a burger, a large popcorn and a 44oz soda.

And when the owner objected he told him to stop being such a damn Jew.

You can tell he’s on a diet because he skipped the cheese. Sensible snacking.

      • tfbuckfutter - Sep 19, 2013 at 10:40 PM

        The cheese wasn’t kosher.

      • historiophiliac - Sep 19, 2013 at 10:42 PM

        It causes the bloat.

Note he also did his cardio first and then snacked. Very sensible indeed.

    Thats awesome.

Sidenote: i just heard the dodgers celebrated in the pool of the dbacks in the outfield in their unis…? That will not be received well…

    • Jeff M. - Sep 19, 2013 at 8:41 PM

It was NOT well received. It was funny as hell, though.

If the Diamondbacks don’t want the Dodgers celebrating, well… Maybe play better?

    scored “2” runs.

he was out trying to score from first to take the lead. tagged in the face. clear as day. next year. sigh

I know Detroit is coasting to a division title so I can see how this is perceived as “cute” or “funny”…

That said I’d be pretty disgusted with this if I was a DET fan. The franchise is paying top-tier money to an elite hitter who is content being morbidly obese.

    • historiophiliac - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:12 AM

I think most Tigers fans would love to be able to tell the story about that time Prince Fielder took one of their nachos after missing a foul ball. Also, he isn’t being paid in relation to his weight. He’s being payed for his playing at whatever weight he is. I’m pretty sure his contract doesn’t include incentives for performance tied to his weight (ie gets more money for hitting homers if he’s under 250 than if he’s above it). There’s plenty of skinny guys out there who don’t put up numbers like his. But, yeah, Babe Ruth Prince Fielder appreciates your concern.

Agree with you here. The dude is a few nachos away from a heart attack.

Even fatty Cabrerra could have made it home from first faster than this cow.

I loved the discreet use of the uniform as a napkin. :)

The clubhouse guys going to love having to get that cheese stain out! lol

Reblogged this on THE QUARTERBACK and commented:
Oh Prince Fielder you are one crafty man. As a fellow fat guy I couldn’t be prouder of this move. Total power move if there ever was one.
