Brian Wilson responds to John McCain on Twitter

Sep 20, 2013, 7:10 PM EDT

Dodgers' Wilson watches the game against the Diamondbacks in the seventh inning during their MLB National League baseball game in Phoenix Reuters

Earlier today, Arizona Senator John McCain tweeted his thoughts on the Dodgers’ Chase Field pool celebration. He called the Dodgers “a bunch of overpaid, immature, arrogant, spoiled brats”. The whole thing came about because Diamondbacks utility man Willie Bloomquist took to the media to voice his displeasure with the act, saying he thought the Dodgers “had more class than that”.

Bearded gentleman and Dodgers reliever Brian Wilson is the latest to throw his opinion out into the Internet ether:

Wilson, of course, is referencing McCain’s loss at the hands of current President Barack Obama in the 2008 election.

Who knew politics and baseball could be so fun?

    Potential best twitter fued ever?

    • tfbuckfutter - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:37 PM

I’m going to guess John McCain doesn’t know what Twitter is.

Although he does know how to play video games instead of doing his job. So maybe I’m wrong.

  3. thomas844 - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:28 PM

So is Brian Wilson a member of the Democratic Party, Republican Party, or Pool Party?

    • losangelesfan - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:37 PM

      The Wild Party!

  4. bosoxfan15 - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:30 PM

That is pure comedic gold. I believe mr Wilson might have a future after baseball is over.

  5. barrywhererufrom - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:32 PM

Fear the turd..hey brian what exactly did you do to help the dodgers win the nl west?

    • losangelesfan - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:42 PM

.87 ERA in 10 clutch innings. You ain’t been watch have you, son? That’s a rhetorical question.

Barry is from Kenya, BTW. I’m guessing being totally misguided is your business.

      • nothanksimdriving123 - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:51 PM

Bonds is from Riverside, Calif., BTW. Or were you referring to Manilow? He’s from Brooklyn, NY.

      • barrywhererufrom - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:00 PM

10 clutch.innings with your team having a huge lead?.is wilson the closer? I know you are.clueless he had as much to do with the dodgers winning as you did

      • tfbuckfutter - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:31 PM

        Barry Manilow is from Brooklyn?

I don’t know why, but I find that incredibly surprising.

        I’d have guessed….I don’t even know. Canada?

      • tfbuckfutter - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:34 PM

Seriously, that is like learning that Michael Bolton is from Hell’s Kitchen. Or Elton John is from Compton.

      • historiophiliac - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:45 PM

Are you kidding? Manilow is hard like Gotham.

Barry Bostwick is from San Mateo.

      • tfbuckfutter - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:52 PM

Barry White and Barry Gibb are both from Intercourse, Pennsylvania.

They both do a lot for the tourism of that specific city.

      • historiophiliac - Sep 20, 2013 at 9:22 PM

Speaking of Barrys, could you connect Barry Pepper to Kevin Bacon (Pepper-Bacon lol)?

      • tfbuckfutter - Sep 20, 2013 at 9:46 PM

I don’t know Barry Pepper that well, but I do know he was in the True Grit remake. Which was awesome.

So I’m feeling Goonies so let’s follow Josh Brolin to Data/Short Round and now Harrison Ford to Star Wars and Carrie Fisher who, if you recall was in the underrated classic Drop Dead Fred with Ms. Phoebe Cates which brings us to Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Sean Penn and now we’re at Mystic River.

      • Old Gator - Sep 20, 2013 at 11:34 PM

It figures that Poor Dim Barry would be a Manilow fan. I bet his favorite album was Please Squash Me Like a Bug. I’d also be willing to bet that Poor Dim Barry goes into anaphylactic shock when he hears a Coltrane CD.

      • djpostl - Sep 20, 2013 at 11:36 PM

Aw, we have a butthurt TEAtard in the house.

        So cute.

        So quaint.

So…pathetic watching someone who is literally so stupid they have to be rminded to inhale and exhale every few seconds lest they pass out & subsequently die from oxygen deprivation.

  6. losangelesfan - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:35 PM

Used to hate Wilson. Now, I love him!

    • yahmule - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:16 PM

      Oh, you’re fickle!

  7. ravensfan8780 - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:36 PM

Wait so people in our congress aren’t overpaid idiots, they get 6 figures plenty of vacation time and if I did my job as bad as them I’d be fired

  8. esracerx46 - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:56 PM

Takes a dig at McCain and Obama. Love it. Never was a fan of wilson because of his antics and whole”the machine” thing. But he just won me over.

  9. barrywhererufrom - Sep 20, 2013 at 7:56 PM

10 clutch innings with a team that already had a huge lead..looks like you need a clue about baseball

    • Old Gator - Sep 20, 2013 at 9:08 PM

Everyone pretty much ignored you the first time you wrote that. They pretty much ignored you again. Try writing it louder next time. Maybe you’ll get the attention you need so badly. Either way, Wilson made McDepends look like the blowhard of a dolt he is.

      • jimeejohnson - Sep 20, 2013 at 9:35 PM

The Depends Adult Diaper Corp. has been raking in the big bucks ever since an African-American won the Presidency. Right wing bass turds pissing in their collective pants increased exponentially after losing the Presidency to the same African-American twice in a row.

      • skids003 - Sep 24, 2013 at 12:18 PM

You guys use them to wipe something off your mouths, don’t you?

  10. barkleyblows - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:08 PM

Whocares!! Obama, Wilson, and McCain are all overpaid jackasses.

    • Old Gator - Sep 20, 2013 at 11:36 PM

You couldn’t pay me enough to put up with a couple of yowling crackpots like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

      • Anoesis - Sep 21, 2013 at 12:08 AM

I apologize to all sane Americans for Ted Cruz. He pretends to represent my state, but unfortunately we all have to put up with him.

Maybe, but he’s not latching on a winner because he’s a glory whore Willie

    • Anoesis - Sep 21, 2013 at 12:11 AM

Once more in English? Nah, never mind.

    • koufaxmitzvah - Sep 21, 2013 at 8:57 AM

So nice to see you again. Out of last place yet?

      Dodgers 2013 NL West champs.

  13. mqcarpenter - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:21 PM

I am not a fan of the pool stunt but that tweet is friggin awesome!

  14. smcgaels1997 - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:25 PM

Wilson’s had plenty of time to come up with witty twitter responses having taken SF’s millions and not throwing for over a year and a half…congratulations on those 10 innings LA fans

    • Anoesis - Sep 21, 2013 at 12:01 AM

Thank you. It’s even better that SF didn’t want him after he was hurt and he was smart enough to step off that sinking tugboat right onto a yacht.

  15. sonoco - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:54 PM

Because McCain has never won an election and Brian (my beard is covering for something) Wilson has never blown a save.

  16. bcwildcat24 - Sep 20, 2013 at 8:59 PM

Wow players nowadays are incredibly whiny. If you have a problem with how the Dodgers celebrate, either a) win the game so they don’t have a reason to celebrate. Or b) win the division so they don’t have any reason to celebrate.

  17. righthereisay - Sep 20, 2013 at 9:03 PM

    Best beard ever.

  18. oden68 - Sep 20, 2013 at 9:26 PM

Perhaps baseball players should take a hint from NHL players and celebrate only when it matters, once you have a ring.

  19. indaburg - Sep 20, 2013 at 9:40 PM

    Oh, snap!

  20. sonoco - Sep 20, 2013 at 9:52 PM

And Barry’s done such an awesome job to make those people look silly … oh wait.

  21. jm91rs - Sep 20, 2013 at 10:08 PM

John McCain spent 6 years as a POW, I highly doubt he’s too concerned about a twitter war.

    • Marty - Sep 20, 2013 at 10:40 PM

Wilson spent about 6 years as a competitive closer. Hard to imagine he has much else to contribute other than a Twitter war.

    • NatsLady - Sep 21, 2013 at 12:58 AM

OK. But then why is he so concerned about a dip in the pool?

  22. Marty - Sep 20, 2013 at 10:38 PM

I can’t imagine my Giants even considering jumping into that pool in 2010 or 2012. Glad to see Wilson on his twilight tour of sloppy seconds is fitting in nicely with this trash ass organization. They’ll be booted in the DS, so Dodger fans – make sure to check in with me when that happens.

Oh, and obey your ideological masters, people. McCain baaaa-a-a-aaaad. We get it.

    • Old Gator - Sep 20, 2013 at 11:37 PM

Hard to believe that you get it.

      • Anoesis - Sep 21, 2013 at 12:05 AM

Oh, he got it alright. He’s still walking bowlegged.

      • Marty - Sep 21, 2013 at 12:51 AM

You know Gator, every time you type the word “freesh”, I’m reminded that there’s an even more played out jackass than Brian Wilson.

        Get it?

      • Old Gator - Sep 21, 2013 at 9:28 AM

You know, Marty, every time you type the word Marty…ah, why bother?

    • Anoesis - Sep 21, 2013 at 12:19 AM

Nice to know what a Giants fan thinks of a guy who blew his elbow out during those six years as a competitive closer for the team. Your level of appreciation is inspiring.

  23. drelms - Sep 20, 2013 at 11:16 PM

Maybe McCain should talk about things he knows about, oh wait a second he’s a politician and doesn’t have a clue.

Not an LA fan, but on the eve of my Sox big win I wish the Dogers the best and the pool thing was great to see.

Even Jim Rice commented after the Sox win that the crowd and players would jump in the pool if they had one there, so you know McCain is way off base. Cuz Rice is cool, that’s why.

  24. eagles512 - Sep 20, 2013 at 11:16 PM

Don’t like Wilson but McCain should never have gotten involved

  25. b453841l - Sep 20, 2013 at 11:22 PM

    Raisin McCain

    • Old Gator - Sep 20, 2013 at 11:40 PM

You cain’t raise McCain back up when he’s in defeat.

      • b453841l - Sep 21, 2013 at 9:13 AM

But you can dry out a grape and photoshop it onto his body.
