Report: Mets expected to announce extension for Terry Collins on Monday

It’s been clear for a while now that Terry Collins will be back with the Mets next season, but it’s finally close to being official.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Mets are expected to announce an extension with Collins on Monday. The deal isn’t done yet, but he’s expected to receive a two-year contract with a club option for 2016.

Collins has a 224-260 record over three seasons as Mets manager and has never won more than 77 games, but he hasn’t had much to work with. While his previous managerial stops were drama-filled, he has managed a good relationship with players and the media during his tenure in New York. After presiding over some lean years, he deserves an opportunity to see this thing through now that the franchise appears to be headed in the right direction.
