Running through tomorrow’s AL Wild Card possibilities

Sep 28, 2013, 7:55 PM EDT

MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian did yeoman’s work running through all of the possibilities that could occur tomorrow as it pertains to the AL Wild Card race. The Indians and Rangers won today while the Rays lost, which means the Indians will enter tomorrow afternoon’s action with a one-game lead, securing themselves at least a 163rd game.

A 3 way tie would be ohhhhh so fun! Unlikely though

One in eight, although these are not honest coins we are flipping, as the contenders are all better teams than their opponents.

And damn you, Bill! I just finished writing this up for my usual morning comment.

Post it anyways. It is a very good summary.

Looking over the odds, my half assed calc’s has this – there is a .269 shot that both Texas and Tampa win, and a .485 chance that Cleveland loses. That would make a .1305 chance of a 3 way tie….or ever so slightly greater than 1 in 8

So, obviously, Cleveland needs to lose and Tampa and Texas win tomorrow. The Indians then lose to Tampa and beat Texas. That way the Indians have to play three games in three cities in three days.

Uhhhh no, Cleveland wins tomorrow, hosts whoever on Wednesday. :)

    FYI:

    Moore vs Redmond
    Jimenez vs Diamond
    Vargas vs Darvish

Gotta like all the WC teams chances.

    • spudchukar - Sep 28, 2013 at 8:38 PM

      Uh, that should read teams’.

    • proudlycanadian - Sep 28, 2013 at 8:45 PM

On paper, it looks good for all 3 teams. Just one problem – anything can happen when the games are actually played. For example, in a big surprise except to his own family, Redmond has pitched very well recently.

By the way, thank you to your Jays for beating the Rays twice this weekend. Got to love the crowd chanting for Cleveland at the game today. Now let’s hope the Indians secure their spot tomorrow with a win.

Never meant to imply a prediction. Mostly just providing info. I have no idea who will win, but it sure will be fun. Nothing better than Baseball on the final day.

      One aspect that sucks

      TB/Tor – 1:05pm
      Cle/Minn – 2:10pm
      Oak/Sea – 4:10pm

Come on MLB, put them all on at the same time, a la the WC!

why can I picture Nelson Cruz going off to get.the Rabgers in….

    • Kevin Gillman - Sep 28, 2013 at 9:42 PM

I personally hope Rays win, Indians win, Rangers lose just because of that.
