Never change, Phillies fans

Oct 8, 2013, 10:30 AM EDT

Phillies fans make me laugh. This exchange started back on Friday:

I shot back:

Then silence. I figured I told him good, buddy! Four days pass in silence.

Then a couple of minutes ago:

It’s not often someone sits on a Twitter retort that long, and it certainly shows dedication. Shows a lot of other things too, many of which are not particularly good, but definitely dedication.

Let us resume this ancient dance next spring.

    I highly recommend this account

..and no I’m not the one who is running it

  2. goskinsvt - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:33 AM

  3. historiophiliac - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:33 AM

OMG, the off-season is going to be so painful…

  4. lightcleric - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:38 AM

I would honestly like some bad blood in Braves-Phillies, it makes things more entertaining. Sadly this guy is just a doofus.

Also Craig, don’t point out the irony of him making fun of a team’s postseason struggles with an Eagles avatar(5 straight NFC championship appearances, 0 rings). I don’t think he could handle it when he replies 2 weeks from now.

  5. deathmonkey41 - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:39 AM

    I like turtles.

  6. liquidgrammar - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:40 AM

    That was hilarious!

  7. chiadam - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:41 AM

I don’t care about any of this. No one does, becase twitter feuds are for little girls. I’m just glad that Barves lives on. That should have ended the silly twitter pillow fight right there.

    • historiophiliac - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:25 AM

What is with insulting things/people by comparing them to girls? It’s obnoxious. Say “childish” not “girly.” There’s nothing wrong with being a girl. FYI, Craig is all over Twitter; my 11-year-old niece has NO Twitter account (and she does the FB and Instagram).

  8. richarddansky - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:48 AM

To be fair, we’re still utterly hosed on payroll and you’re not.

Also, we have Papelbon and you don’t. So that’s two things in your favor.

  9. jimmymarlinsfan - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:48 AM

Lol. Way to fulfill my prophecy Bravos!

  10. theanswer0381 - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:51 AM

fuck you asshole. you stereotype phillie fans like theyre all the same. maybe the guy has a life and isnt sitting on twitter. your so unproffessional calling out an entire fan base. any fan would make the comment the fan did but of course bc hes a phillies fan you blow it out of proportion. and the braves can make the playoffs all they want, if they dont win it all then whats the point? lol freddy garcia? your a sorry excuse for a writer.

    • NatsLady - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:55 AM

      Never change, Phillie fans.

    • abaird2012 - Oct 8, 2013 at 10:57 AM

      Calm down. Geez.

    • richarddansky - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:06 AM

There’s nothing more amusing than the frothing outrage of a fanboy who assumes that any comment that isn’t a slobbering deep tongue kiss of his favorite team is the equivalent of a hate crime.

In the immortal words of Sgt. Hulka, “Lighten up, Francis.”

    • seattlej - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:15 AM

My favorite line: “your a sorry excuse for a writer.”

If nothing else, at least he used the proper punctuation.

    • cohnjusack - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:24 AM

      To summarize theanswer0381’s statement:

    • garlicfriesandbaseball - Oct 8, 2013 at 12:02 PM

the answer0381: Great response in typical Phillies fashion ~ it validates Calcaterra’s entire post.

Does it show he has a job and doesn’t have time to check his Twitter feed every 5 minutes?

      Craig isn’t a journalist …

  14. sausage9724 - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:04 AM

how is this a story. seriously, you are by far the absolute worst reporter on any site ever.

    • richarddansky - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:09 AM

      Hyperbole much?

  15. Bill Baer - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:06 AM

    Craig u r a looser

    • paperlions - Oct 8, 2013 at 12:02 PM

…and the Braves are a bunch of chockers.

  16. yankee172 - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:13 AM

Thanks for sharing your inane and completely pointless twitter conversation in an effort to humiliate some random jackass. If I wanted to read your tweets I would follow you on twitter. How about you stick to baseball news, eh?

  17. heyblueyoustink - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:13 AM

Go knock back some more Tussin’, you Philly trolling, basement dwelling, hipster nerd.

Maybe loosening your skinny jeans will help your demeanor.

    • historiophiliac - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:27 AM

I hate you for making me picture Craig in skinny jeans!

      /throws up a little

      • heyblueyoustink - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:51 AM

I was just trying to throw in as many generalizations as possible.

        / ponders irony

  18. phillytj - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:15 AM

So one fan tweets you and you make a headline on a national site stereotyping the entire Phillies fan base?

Between the extreme-left political opinions routinely expressed by your football counterparts, and bs like this article, this site is losing credibility by the minute.

    • eightyraw - Oct 8, 2013 at 12:00 PM

When did treating women, minorities, and homosexuals with respect become an extreme-left political opinion?

  19. jgarcia050 - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:20 AM

and we care about your stupid twitter “war” because…? such an idiotic article/story or whatever the hell you call this trash. You come off looking like an immature child posting this on a website and gloating about it.

  20. greej1938l - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:24 AM

Keep your battles to yourself Craig

  21. bravojawja - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:25 AM

Keep trolling, CC! These comments are totally worth it!

    • historiophiliac - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:28 AM

      It’s so beautiful.

  22. DelawarePhilliesFan - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:26 AM

Deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want us to trash you. You NEED us to trash you!

    • ptfu - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:44 AM

Larry Bowa would totally order a Code Red.

  23. The Common Man - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:29 AM

I appreciate the updates from the front of Craig’s war with Phillies fans. I especially love the joy he takes in them, and the outrage of people who don’t have to click on an article if they don’t want to who clicked on that article. God bless you, Craig. You’re doing God’s work, which must drive a Godless heathen like you nuts.

    • historiophiliac - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:38 AM

It appears that the thumb harpy is unhappy with this post’s comments — yet another reason to admire trolly Craig.

      • DelawarePhilliesFan - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:54 AM

That thumb harpy has been unhappy for years now

      • historiophiliac - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:57 AM

Well, I do like to think that I have especially pissed it off. I bet I get more than you!

      • DelawarePhilliesFan - Oct 8, 2013 at 12:00 PM

Yes, you do get a lot! Which I still find confusing….

  24. mdpickles - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:43 AM

This is just silly. Still doesn’t change the fact that the Braves have not won a playoff series in 12 years.

  25. phillyphan975 - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:45 AM

Craig, I know nothng about you, but, you are either a sour Braves fan or your Boss said “Craig, you need to spit out a drama story in the next 72 hours or you are fired”…Either way, you should be fired for writing this article. No, not because you bashed Philly fans (yes I am one and I am not offended by your comments), but becasue you actually took the time to copy and paste, not once but twice, a twitter argument you got involved with. Did it hurt you that bad that you only form of defense was to stir up a pool of Philly haters to get your back? Seriously, get over it. We have a passionate fan base and yes some take it a little to far but that is what makes us who we are. All of these same fans are there win or lose. So don;t worry we are not going anywhere and we will never change!

Some advice. Focus more on writing good stories with solid information and less on twitter debates. You are supposed to be above “us”.

    • The Common Man - Oct 8, 2013 at 11:51 AM

This is absolutely true. God knows Craig never writes anything on this site. Sometimes, he goes weeks in between posts.

      • bravojawja - Oct 8, 2013 at 12:14 PM

I know, right? He’s the slackingest slacker in all of slackerdom. Or the bloggingest blogger in all of the blogosphere. I’m not sure which.
