Lineups for the entire collection of marbles in St. Louis …

Pirates:
LF Starling Marte
2B Neil Walker
CF Andrew McCutchen
1B Justin Morneau
RF Marlon Byrd
3B Pedro Alvarez
C Russell Martin
SS Clint Barmes
SP Gerrit Cole

Aside from a one-game switch from Clint Barmes to Jordy Mercer at shortstop Pirates manager has stuck with the status quo and he’s doing that again in Game 5.

Cardinals:
2B Matt Carpenter
RF Carlos Beltran
LF Matt Holliday
1B Matt Adams
C Yadier Molina
CF Jon Jay
3B David Freese
SS Pete Kozma
SP Adam Wainwright

And the Cardinals are also sticking with the same lineup as Game 4.

    Let’s Go Bucs !

As a Reds fan, I think the Pittsburgh Pirates will win the game. There the better team. Pitching, especially the relief pitchers. The Bucs win 5-4

Way to high of a score. Gonna’ be a 2-1/1-0 nail biter.
      Go Cardinals!

Can someone tell me why the Pirates keep batting Morneau 4th and Alvarez 6th?

Considering that we are well on our way to being 2-hit just two nights after being 1-hit, I would have to say the order of the lineup really doesn’t matter worth a damn.

There are several batters on this club that need to grow a pair of testicles next season. I’m pissed off as hell that our 1-2 hitters, Walker and Marte, are a combined 1-for-31 with 2 walks and 1 run scored for this series. There’s been absolutely nothing to justify them getting AB’s over guys like Tabata, Mercer, Sanchez, and Josh Harrison.

I would have put Alvarez in the cleanup spot and Jones at 1B Garret Jones has hit Wainright very well I would have also put Mercer at SS.

e5again: From what I’ve read, Hurdle is trying to keep L/R/L balance in the lineup.

However, he could shuffle the batters in such a way that Morneau would bat 7th vs. 4th (a MUCH more suitable location for him, considering he still hasn’t hit a HR as a member of the Pirates).

Just speculation, but the Pirates made so many good moves that maybe ownership is fearful of moving a 1B with 0 HR’s down to the 7 hole would be admitting maybe that move wasn’t so good.

Morneau and Alvarez are both lefties, his point, I think, is that Alvarez >>>>>>> Morneau, so they should be flipped with Alvarez batting 4th.
