Game 1 of the NLCS is already giving you the drama you crave. Both the Cardinals and Dodgers have put up zeroes outside of Juan Uribe‘s two-run single in the top of the third and Carlos Beltran‘s game-tying, two-run double in the bottom of the third.

Zack Greinke put together an outstanding start, holding the Cardinals to just the two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out ten. Cardinals starter Joe Kelly went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five.

Dodgers reliever Brian Wilson was in danger in the bottom of the ninth, walking two to put runners on first and second with two outs, but he got Jon Jay to fly out to center to send the game to extras.

Cardinals reliever Trevor Rosenthal is back out on the mound in the top of the tenth for his second inning of work.

So I assume that Puig is going to get positive press for his outfield assist, and none of the adoring baseball writers will dare to say a thing about the 7 runners he left on base? The dude left guys on base in every at-bat, and dribbled the ball weakly to the pitcher for a force-out at the plate with bases loaded in the 4th.

By contrast, Beltran made the outfield assist that counted in the 10th inning by throwing Ellis out at the plate. And he brought home the runners when he had the chance.

I like this! This is like a preemptive criticism of a potential column from tomorrow. You can see the future.

Is it me, or did Molina not put the tag on Ellis? Tough play and Molina is a beast, but it looked to me like he never put the tag on. Call should have been safe.

Indeed, he didn’t. The announcers were just talking about that.

Yea after replay of course you can clearly see he didn’t tag him . But during play I think it’s a tough call for any umpire to make . Dodgers should of been leading series 1-0 by now smh

Wouldn’t have mattered if Ethier makes that catch in center.
