The Braves want Tim Hudson back

Oct 14, 2013, 12:31 PM EDT

When you start Freddy Garcia in an elimination game, yeah, you might be interested in bringing back a starter you’ve had around for nine years and with whom you’re quite comfortable:

Hudson will turn 39 next season and his 3.97 ERA and 97 ERA+ were his worst marks in those categories since 2006. Still, his strikeout, walk and hit rates were aligned with career norms. If he’s fully healed from his awful leg injury, he’ll be a welcome addition to the Braves’ rotation next season. Of course, since he’s a free agent, he may be a welcome addition to any number of other rotations next year.

If we make it through midnight it will be 6 days since the last ARod posting. Thank You, playoffs.

You forgot the part where Freddy Gracia was actually one of the Barves more reliable pitchers in their quickly abbreviated post-season.

Braves should sign Huddy. Trade Alex Wood, prospect, and Evan Gattis for David Price. Sign AJ Peirzynski & Eric O’Flaherty. Then trade one of our top 3 pitching prospects plus Uggla to the Angels for Howard Kendrick. Medlin can be traded to replace the prospects we lost. We get a rotation of 1.Price 2.Hudson 3.Minor 4.Beachy 5.Teheran and a lineup of 1.Heyward 2.Kendrick 3.Justin 4.Freeman 5.Johnson 6.Peirzynski 7.BJ 8.Simmons. Replace Brian Snitker at 3B and replace Greg Walker and Scott Fletcher with someone that can actually fix a swing.

I know it’s rosterbation but a man can dream right? I mean it is the offseason…

Alex Wood and Evan Gattis for David Price? Yeah, Tampa will get right on that.

Within the context of Price’s value, Wood and Gattis are throw-ins, not pieces around which a deal could be made. Gattis is likely to have a sub-.300 OBP with power and poor defense, Wood is destined for the bullpen.

I’m a Barves fan and I approve this message. Even as predestined as Gattis is for an AL DH role, it’s not happening as a show piece in a Price deal.

Freddy pitched damn well in that elimination game. I hope Huddy comes back so he can go out on his own terms, in a Braves uniform.

they can’t just sign Huddy but I hope they do sign him. My wife would be heartbroken.
