NLCS, Game 4: Cardinals-Dodgers lineups

Oct 15, 2013, 5:05 PM EDT

NLCS Cardinals Dodgers Baseball AP

Lineups for Game 4 in Los Angeles …

Cardinals:
2B Matt Carpenter
RF Carlos Beltran
LF Matt Holliday
1B Matt Adams
C Yadier Molina
CF Jon Jay
3B David Freese
SS Daniel Descalso
SP Lance Lynn

So much for David Freese’s calf injury being a major issue. Not only aren’t the Cardinals going to replace him on the roster, he worked out before the game and feels good enough to be in the starting lineup. Daniel Descalso, who would have subbed for Freese at third base, is in the lineup at shortstop in place of Pete Kozma.

Dodgers:
LF Carl Crawford
2B Mark Ellis
SS Hanley Ramirez
1B Adrian Gonzalez
CF Andre Ethier
RF Yasiel Puig
3B Juan Uribe
C A.J. Ellis
SP Ricky Nolasco

And the Dodgers’ injured regulars are also in the lineup, as Andre Ethier will play through a leg injury and Hanley Ramirez will start despite a cracked rib. Don Mattingly decided to stick with Ricky Nolasco as the starting pitcher rather than bumping him again and turning to Zack Greinke on short rest.

Kirk Gibson gives this a 7 out of 10 on the Grit scale. Dodgers lost 2 points for the pool incident.

Hallelujah! Yadier is back in the 5 hole.

Thanks for posting it sooner (rather than later)…Aaron!

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned with Lance (Jekyl & Hyde) Lynn on the hill.
Nevertheless…you go with who got you here. That in mind…here’s to hoping he is throwing darts!
Good luck Dodgers fans! Go Cardinals!

It would just be really nice, for once, to see some hits from the offense. You remember those? Hard hit balls after which the guys around to those white squares and then high five each other in the dug out. That would be refreshing.

        Indeed.

Hell, I’m at the point where a loud foul is hope inducing.

A little better last night Paper.
And the AB’s each guy took (with the exception of the large Mammal) were a whole lot better.

I hear you paper as long as there from the Cards!

I will say im a bigger fan of a pitching duel for some reason. But ive seen enough of those lately lol

    Think Matt Carpenter is struggling?

He currently leads the Cardinals hitters in OPS this series. He’s 2-11 with 2 walks. That’s how terrible the Cardinals hitters have been so far(alternately, that’s how great the Dodgers pitchers have been)

Yeah…horrible offensive “production” to be sure (until last night anyway). Let’s hope last nights sticks continue. I also hope some Dodgers fans see this…”alternately, that’s how great the Dodgers pitchers have been.” A lot of them seem incapable of giving credit. Which is fine in the end. As long as the Cardinals keep winning anyway.
