Report: A-Rod and Bosch’s lawyers almost came to blows

Oct 15, 2013, 10:32 AM EDT

Joe Tacopina

Now, keep in mind this is from the Daily News so there is probably a decent intensity markup in the reporting compared to what happened in reality, but given that it’s Joe Tacopina, there’s a chance this is actually underplayed:

Alex Rodriguez decided last summer that he needed a street fighter in his corner to beat his 211-game doping suspension.

When he hired lawyer Joe Tacopina in August, he got one.

The high-profile defense attorney had to be physically restrained from brawling with another lawyer two weeks ago during his defense of Rodriguez when the steroid-stained slugger’s appeal kicked off in the normally sedate Park Avenue offices of Major League Baseball.

Shockingly, the alleged altercation was set off by a comment about a guy’s wife, not his mother. Really!

I cannot wait for the movie one day. It’s gonna be great.

This is crap. It’s only a game. Don’t these guys realize this.

Must be one of those ‘unwritten rules’ of litigation. These guys are adults and need to act like it.

There should be suspensions all around for everyone involved. It’s dangerous for lawyers to fight. They might scratch each other with their cufflinks, and someone could get hurt. For what? A game? Ridiculous.

This kind of thing is completely unacceptable.

Unless HBT finds it acceptable, then it’s okay.

If that’s sarcasm I can give you a pass, even though it’s lousy sarcasm. If that’s serious, well….I’d call you some name, but that would be an insult to whoever I compared you to. Honestly, who would care if a couple of lawyers beat each other up? Lawyers fighting over money is never a game to them.

Put a goatee on that guy, and he could be the new Evil Spock.

I doubt you are their type, but send them some flowers and a nicely worded card and see what happens.

    I don’t care.

“I cannot wait for the movie one day.”

I’m thinking Dan Castellaneta will be playing Craig

I hope they make it a Muppet Movie. I want to play Animal in it.

      • ltzep75 - Oct 15, 2013 at 2:27 PM

        ahem (clears throat):

Its time to play the music
Its time to fight the fights
Its time to insult your wife
Its time to meet the muppets on the Muppet Show tonight.

And Keanu Reeves can play a solicitor from England, who travels to Translyvannia at the behest of his employer to act as an estate agent for a foreign client named Count Dracula who wishes to move to England.

    • dexterismyhero - Oct 16, 2013 at 12:03 PM

And Jerry Mathers as “The Beaver”.

  7. yahmule - Oct 15, 2013 at 1:22 PM

    “steroid-stained slugger”

  8. chiadam - Oct 15, 2013 at 1:30 PM

I assume this was supposed to say that they almost blew each other.

A lawyer has got to earn those billable hours by hook or by crook.

  10. chip56 - Oct 15, 2013 at 2:29 PM

This guy is angling for some sort of reality show – I can feel it already.

  11. km9000 - Oct 15, 2013 at 4:50 PM

I guess the best legal defense is a good offense.

  12. granted42 - Oct 15, 2013 at 7:27 PM

Clearly, the part of Tacopina will be played by Joe Pesci, who has already demonstrated fine batsmanship on screen.
