HBT Daily: Game 6 in St. Louis!

Kershaw and Wacha is a pitching matchup made in heaven.

I think I would rather have Wacha pitching tonight over Wainwright too in a do-or-die. If Wainwright’s curve isn’t working, he’s got a decent slider/cutter but only a 92-93 mph fastball that has less of a chance of getting by hitters if he misses location. Wacha can throw it past you and his change-up is almost as humbling as Wainwright’s 12-6 curve.

And that is absolutely no disrespect to Adam Wainwright whatsoever. Wacha’s skill set and moxie is just that good.

I want Wainwright’s experience and mental approach should this thing go 7 games.
That pretty much sums it up for me.

Is Shelby Miller still on this team? Why is he not starting or at least relieving in this series? I would think he would be a better choice for a starter than Lynn.

The team has concerns over arm fatigue, and that’s not something that just disappears in a couple weeks. He’s been able to pitch out of the pen but not as a starter.

I’m sure hoping Wacha can do it again tonight. Go Cardinals!

Wainwright, Wacha, Miller, Kelly. This sounds like a winning starting pitching four man rotation. Lynn has been at best inconsistent, at worst terrible at times. Go Cardinals, win tonight and await your trip to Boston or Detroit. Hope everyone packs their thermals for the cold nights in either AL city.

It’s hard to remember there were days (nights) with FIFTEEN major-league baseball games. I am really gonna miss baseball a lot, very soon.

Right there with you, NatsLady. The worst thing about the end of the postseason—whether it comes with a win or a loss—is the depressing void it leaves when it’s over.

I agree….but jeez, I am already exhausted from this post season. Way too many close games. It’s been stressful….all while feeling very lucky to be a fan of one of the 4 remaining teams….and it really won’t even wreck my weekend if they lose. It has been an enjoyable season and they have won enough recently that I don’t need them to win again (yet) for me to have enjoyed the year.

It’s gonna’ be tough (to put it mildly) to beat Kershaw twice in a 7 game series.
That in mind…they bring the sticks and play smart baseball and I feel good about their chances.
    Let’s get it done tonight!
