A report of classlessness from Fenway Park

Seems like we get one of these every other series.

Ben Verlander — the younger brother of Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander — apparently encountered some childish behavior Saturday during Game 6 of the ALCS at Boston’s Fenway Park. Ben sent this from his personal Twitter account near the end of the game, a little while after Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino put the home team ahead for good with his spectacular seventh-inning four-run blast:

The meatheads at Barstool Sports say Ben should “stop being such a chick.” How sweet.

Ben and Justin Verlander versus a couple of tools who sell t-shirts. That’d be a quick fight.

But thats unpossible! Only Philadelphia has classless fans! Thats what the media (and Craig) tells me!

This writer calls Barstool meatheads, yet he’s probably on the site every day.

Why don’t teams put a few extra ushers around the opposing team’s family section? I’m sure there was plenty of heckling in the direction of the Tigers family members, but anything abusive is a reason to toss a fan. And there would be a (good!) chilling effect from doing that.

Come on.. you don’t even know what was said… to make a post like this is an obvious attempt to try and smear the city for your own personal reasons. If my brother played baseball and I went to a game, I would expect heckling. Its what happens at ANY ballpark. You’re going to tell me a drunk fan at one ballpark behaves any better than a drunk fan at another? Not to mention, for all we know someone could of yelled “your brother is not a very nice person and I don’t respect your family’s sense of fashion.” and he could of made that tweet. Now, we all know that there were probably much more lewd things said.. but come on, I think losing the game had a little to do with his decision to make that post. Do our city, and every other city you might try to bury by posting things like this and then using a group like Barstool to represent the majority of the cities behavior.

You’re a writer. Your words hold power upon peoples opinions. Don’t use it for your own misgivings.. until you know the whole story, or, look at yourself, or your own city in retrospect, and think “is this really something that couldn’t happen at any city in the country?”.

So fans from St Louis will show everyone what “Class” is all about… And then the Red Sox will win in Six. I can’t figure out why so many people hate the Cardinals?
