Watch it again: Shane Victorino’s grand slam

Oct 20, 2013, 8:49 AM EDT

Shane Victorino‘s seventh-inning grand slam Saturday in Game 6 of the ALCS punched Boston’s ticket to the 2013 World Series. Relive the big blast with the calls from FOX, WEEI (Boston) and WXYT (Detroit):

How many packs of smokes will it take Jim Leyland to get over this one?

Hopefully none. While every decision gets second guessed, that was some fantastic baseball being played by two great baseball team. The World Series itself might not be as good as that series was.

Seems to me no one in Detroit has anything to be ashamed about and can feel pretty good about an excellent ball club that had an excellent season

Been watching all the highlights this morning. Lost power in the 5th and didn’t come back until awards.

An awful lot of celebrating there. I guess Victorino will get plunked the next time he plays Detroit.

Considering he is a league leader in HBP, what would be the point?

Something about Posey’s 2012 grand slam and how he ran the bases made it seem more like a stake in the heart. Like it was calculated to happen. Victorino is just running around like he fell on dumb luck.

He admitted he got lucky, said in an interview today he was looking for a fastball. Nothing wrong with showing some excitement after hitting the game-deciding, series -deciding grand slam.

I think Victorino’s reaction was understandable: he had two hits the entire series, he was hitting something like .087 at the time. He was just letting out a lot of frustration; he wasn’t trying to show up the Tigers. One thing I’m not sure about: the Tigers’ announcer said that Victorino was “the most pitchable hitter in the Red Sox lineup”. What the heck does that mean? Now that sounds like a diss.

    “You can’t make it up”.

The whole season has been like at. Thank you Phillies for letting this guy escape, he’s been a joy to watch.

And thank you Tigers for making this a great ALCS. You’ll get another chance.
