Carlos Beltran will be a game time decision

The X-Rays were negative, but as of early this afternoon Carlos Beltran remains a game time decision to play tonight. Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch doubts he’ll play.

It stinks that the one thing that went right for the Cardinals last night — Beltran catching what would have been a grand slam, and injuring his ribs in the process — could potentially harm them more in this World Series than all of their silly goofups in Game 1. Those all ceased to matter last night.  Beltran being out or diminished could cost them multiple games.

Totally agree. The lineup is much more potent with him in it. It also sucks to lose him on a play where his movement was so effortless that it really didn’t look like he hit the wall very hard.

not that this would matter and it’s obviously small sample size but beltran is 0/9 with 3 k’s in his lifetime vs lackey. sit him tonight for a pinch hit situation, get him a days rest, have him ready for game 3. not ideal but not awful either. seemed hanley looked sharpest in game 3 after his day of rest.

Craig’s injury likely costs Metheny the opportunity to DH Beltran tonight.

As a Sox fan, I hope Beltran is able to return, it’s terrible to have an important cog injured at any point, let alone the World Series.

All drama, he’ll be ready to play and play well….

It is an awful shame that Carlos Beltran finally gets to the World Series, and gets injured early in Game #1. Hope you are able to come back and play in the series, Carlos.
