HBT Daily: Talking Game 1 with Red Sox Insider Sean McAdam

Oct 24, 2013, 2:54 PM EDT

Sean McAdam of is one of the best in the business. And today he and I talk about Game 1 and what to expect going forward in this year’s Fall Classic.

  1. Francisco (FC) - Oct 24, 2013 at 3:34 PM

Sean McAdam uses the first games of 2004, 2007 and last night to somehow come to the conclusion that visiting teams are intimidated or that they somehow fall apart when they come to Fenway for the first game of the World Series.

No, that’s not abusing small sample size at all.

What are you talking about FC? It was three entire games. It’s obvious teams (especially the Cardinals since they played in two of them) are intimidated coming into Fenway. I mean…the Red Sox got one more hit than the Cardinals last night. Clearly intimidated. And last nights missed call at 2nd base would have been the worst call in the history of the postseason.
Had they not reversed that call it would have clearly “blown away” the missed call by Dekinger in the 85 series. This was game #1…Dekingers call actually affected the outcome of the W.S. I mean…had he not missed that call the other team would have merely won the World Series for crying out loud. Sean McAdams is clearly one of the best in the game and he is undoubtedly the most insightful, unbiased reporter/writer/etc… on the Eastern Seaborg.
