Fresh off winning their third World Series title in the past 10 years, the Red Sox will be honored this morning with a parade through Boston. The players, who will be riding in duck boats, will begin their trek from Fenway Park and finish on the Charles River. You can see the full parade route here.

The parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET, but MLB.com and RedSox.com will have live streaming of the event at 9 a.m.

As Joe McDonald of ESPN Boston notes, even the duck boats have beards:

I know this hirsute thing has been going on for months but, not being a designatedhitterball league fan I missed the genesis of it (it didn’t burst upon the scene with the sturm und drang of the fried chicken scandal, at any rate). I enjoyed the cachet once I found out about it, though – which was, admittedly, late in the season.

How about a quick synopsis for those of us who follow real baseball: how did this beard thing start? Was someone reading Herman Melville in the dugout or some such thing?

By real baseball, you meant the lesser performing team in the World Series. Seems to a casual observer that the better of the leagues wins the majority of World Series.

      Duck boats? Yuck!

    • drewzducks - Nov 2, 2013 at 12:37 PM

As opposed to an annual ride in a Blue Jay turd captained by a doubtfully sober John Gibbons.

      • proudlycanadian - Nov 2, 2013 at 1:19 PM

Weak response. You can do better than that.

      • drewzducks - Nov 2, 2013 at 1:23 PM

You mean Toronto Weak ? Sorry too much celebrating this week.

      • proudlycanadian - Nov 2, 2013 at 1:26 PM

Better, but still not your best. What were you celebrating with? Sam Adams?

      • drewzducks - Nov 2, 2013 at 1:50 PM

JD and Cubanos, courtesy of your wonderful and enlightened homeland ! Thank you. And in all seriousness hoping to see you guys back in the thick of it next year. One of the first games I went to was the July 4, 1977 Sox eight HR game against your team in their first season. Time flys !

Farrell for Manager of the year!

      • proudlycanadian - Nov 2, 2013 at 8:32 PM

        I would vote for Francona.

Johnny Gomes started it as a way to bring everyone together. And Canada looks tacky.
