Jake Peavy bought a duck boat

Nov 3, 2013, 8:53 AM EST

Jake Peavy so enjoyed riding around in a six-wheel-drive amphibious truck at Saturday’s Red Sox World Series championship parade that he went ahead and purchased the thing. No, seriously

Peavy makes his offseason home in Semmes, Alabama — where he grew up — with his wife Katie and three sons. He presumably has a piece of land where the vehicle can be put to good use. The 32-year-old right-hander wrote on his personal Twitter account that he hopes the duck boat remains in his family forever.

Pretty cool, always liked those things myself. I’d make it look like it did back in WWII though.

Is he going to call it Daffy or Donald?

I think the players like those duck boat parades as much as the fans. Hopefully, he has some “dirty water” river in Alabama nearby to use.

I think Peavy is off on a wild goose chase myself.

It’ll go nicely with what appear to be custom red LL Bean duck boots!

Look for it on Ebay in about two weeks. The coffee will have taken effect by then.

I see him about now, ice pack on his head, saying, “I bought WHAT??”

Peavy owns a bunch of land in northern Michigan with David Wells and Kirk Gibson. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that he brought it up there.
