Angels add Gary DiSarcina to coaching staff

Nov 5, 2013, 2:44 PM EST

After promoting Dino Abel from third base coach to bench coach the Angels have hired Gary DiSarcina as their new third base coach.

DiSarcina spent a dozen seasons as the Angels’ shortstop before getting into coaching, managing this year at Triple-A for the Red Sox.

DiSarcina and hitting coach Don Baylor are the new additions to manager Mike Scioscia’s coaching staff, which underwent a lot fewer changes than expected while both Scioscia and general manager Jerry Dipoto avoided getting canned as well.

Nice hire.Grooming him for Scioscia’s job. Lure Mark Langston out of the radio booth to become pitching coach and their coaching staff looks pretty sound. Now lets get a starting pitcher.

Radio jobs have a lot more security.

I just want to see how much money the Halos waste so they can finish in third place again.

The bench coach is Dino Ebel, not Dino Abel.

And I love all the old Angels hires. I’m not sure one way or the other if they’re the best, but as an Angels fan since I can remember, it makes me happy.
