Illness will keep Alex Rodriguez from being questioned by MLB tomorrow

Nov 14, 2013, 9:18 PM EST

As Craig wrote earlier, Alex Rodriguez was scheduled to be questioned by MLB tomorrow before his hearing resumes, but it’s not going to happen. You see, he’s a little under the weather.

HBT has unearthed this exclusive footage of Rodriguez from earlier this evening. Don’t worry, Bud Selig is playing the role of Principal Ed Rooney right now.

MLB has a right to interview A-Rod — although not under oath — before he testifies at the hearing, so something will have to give eventually. His hearing was set to resume Monday, but that might have to change now.

      • ilovegspot - Nov 15, 2013 at 2:45 PM

He is actually sick. He got it from making out with a dirty mirror.

  2. phreakin - Nov 14, 2013 at 9:52 PM

    Ya im sure he’s “ill”

    • km9000 - Nov 15, 2013 at 1:09 AM

I think the standard publicist line is “exhaustion and dehydration.”

      • Old Gator - Nov 15, 2013 at 6:36 AM

        What? No “emotional distress”?

      • ilovegspot - Nov 15, 2013 at 2:49 PM

        kissing a dirty mirror again.

  3. cackalackyank - Nov 14, 2013 at 10:20 PM

I wonder if he is half as sick as a lot of us are from his BS, and Selig’s.

  4. proudlycanadian - Nov 14, 2013 at 10:21 PM

Is he afraid that MLB (under the terms of the CBA), will also ask him to pee in a cup?

  5. asimonetti88 - Nov 14, 2013 at 11:13 PM

Whatever, I’m ill and I still was able to get work done today.

  6. dook517 - Nov 15, 2013 at 12:06 AM

Lest we forget, Miguel Cabrera was a free agent the year the Yankees went with A-Rod.

    • jwbiii - Nov 15, 2013 at 1:28 AM

Miguel Cabrera has never been a free agent. He signed his extension with the Tigers when he was still arbitration eligible.

  7. aphillieated - Nov 15, 2013 at 12:32 AM

    ill my *ss

    • Old Gator - Nov 15, 2013 at 6:36 AM

That’s right! He used to be a shortstop!

      • nbjays - Nov 15, 2013 at 11:30 AM

        And fittingly, with an asterisk.

      • Old Gator - Nov 15, 2013 at 2:27 PM

Vonnegut has taught me to be inspired by asterisks.

  8. jeffa43 - Nov 15, 2013 at 12:50 AM

Intelligence level will keep him away from Baseball.

  9. km9000 - Nov 15, 2013 at 1:07 AM

I could totally see A-Rod taking George Steinbrenner’s Ferrari on a joyride, trying to roll back the odometer, and, well, you know the rest…

    • aceshigh11 - Nov 15, 2013 at 8:15 AM

      A-Rod’s Day Off! YES!

With Cameron Diaz cast as Sloane? And Jeter as Cameron?

I like the way this is shaping up.

  10. cur68 - Nov 15, 2013 at 1:08 AM

I am stunned that anyone would link a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off clip and not select one with Sloan in it. Something’s wrong with you people.

  11. eugenesaxe1 - Nov 15, 2013 at 2:13 AM

It’s a rare condition known as “lackofballsitis”.

  12. joestemme - Nov 15, 2013 at 3:11 AM

A-Roid can go Fu#K himself and his “illness”.

    • Old Gator - Nov 15, 2013 at 6:38 AM

I love the variety and subtlety of your posts. Always something new, always full of insights.

      • nbjays - Nov 15, 2013 at 7:24 AM

He’s a lot like dirtyharry in that regard.

  13. babyfarkmcgeezax - Nov 15, 2013 at 3:25 AM

A-Rod is ill? Let me guess, he just read something written by Craig Calcaterra

    • scoutsaysweitersisabust - Nov 15, 2013 at 9:01 AM

And yet you continue to frequent his site, thereby keeping him in business.

  14. bat42boy - Nov 15, 2013 at 5:37 AM

Bogus excuse so he doesn’t have to face the music that he is a drug addict and scum bag ball player. A thousand times worse than Pete Rose ever was.

    • raym64 - Nov 15, 2013 at 2:03 PM

I wish the sport had been clean during the “steroid era”, but face it, at it’s peak when owners looked the other way to fill their ballparks, there may have been as many using as not. We hear about the home run hitters the most, but don’t forget these hitters were probably hitting against juiced up pitchers. Who knows where the advantage was?

  15. aceshigh11 - Nov 15, 2013 at 8:09 AM

    Riiiiiight.

  16. unclemosesgreen - Nov 15, 2013 at 8:28 AM

All those syringes and not one contained the flu vaccine.

  18. stinkfingers - Nov 15, 2013 at 8:57 AM

Faking sick before a big test? Yeah… Been there.

  19. scoutsaysweitersisabust - Nov 15, 2013 at 8:59 AM

MLB should send him a “Get Well Soon” basket full of giant plastic syringes and bandages. Maybe a little stuffed Minotaur.

  20. greymares - Nov 15, 2013 at 9:23 AM

Great candidate for experimental drugs ! or crash dummy.

  21. chiadam - Nov 15, 2013 at 9:41 AM

    Steroid fever!

  22. righthandofjustice - Nov 15, 2013 at 12:33 PM

According to AP, A-Rod said he could be back in NY on next Monday. So it wouldn’t take long…

Perhaps in time to exchange some testimonies with Selig, Randy Levine and Dan Mullin in the hearing…

The alleged document thief, Gary Jones, has also broken his silence and cooperated with the Miami police. Reportedly he has made some statements in the police report regarding his relationship with and knowledge about Dan Mullin and vice versa. He has also sent notarized material to NY and stated he has more information to release but would save it for court and news…

    • ilovegspot - Nov 15, 2013 at 2:42 PM

righthand is an aroid minion. Obviously doesn’t work after the hours spent here commenting long and hard on anything aroid. Paid just like the freaks protesting in front of the court house.

      • ilovegspot - Nov 15, 2013 at 7:21 PM

righthand detail is conjured by aroids lawyer team.

  23. weaselpuppy - Nov 15, 2013 at 12:36 PM

I didn’t know Centaurs has such delicate immune systems….

    • ilovegspot - Nov 15, 2013 at 2:44 PM

he has to stop making out with mirrors on film.

  24. skinsfolife - Nov 15, 2013 at 5:52 PM

This is news? We all know he has zero integrity, no soul, no self confidence, and no self worth. Let this guy disappear into oblivion. He won’t ever play again.
