The Astros are going to announce … something tomorrow

Nov 18, 2013, 5:07 PM EST

I have no idea what. But I actually got a press release from the Houston Astros which foretold of a coming announcement. As most press releases I get actually say what those announcements may be, this one is kinda interesting:

“Enos Cabell — Astros Legend.” OK, have it your way.

Anyway: Until told otherwise, I’m going to assume it’s about them moving back into the Astrodome or something like it.

I’m willing to bet even though you’ve posted that, people still ponder below for the next 24 hours.

The announcement of the hiring of Nolan Ryan?

  3. oztotten008 - Nov 18, 2013 at 5:16 PM

I’m really hoping that “Emcee Robert Ford” is who I think it is…

  4. Caught Looking - Nov 18, 2013 at 5:18 PM

Someone bought a season ticket package?

  5. anxovies - Nov 18, 2013 at 5:25 PM

What can it be? They are moving to Vegas in 2015? Nolan Ryan has bought them outright and they will change their name to the Houston Advils? They are being relegated to the CL for a team to be named later? O heart be still!

Enos Cabell a legend….too funny. No how about an African American who used to play for us. That what he is actually for this purpose.

To be fair, he did have three above-average seasons for the ‘Stros in the late ’70s, and received MVP votes in 1978.

Legend definitely seems a bit strong, but he’s the equivalent of someone like Rich Dauer on the Orioles, and he was recently put into the team HOF.

Astros are changing their name to The Krakens.

  8. sisisisisisisi - Nov 18, 2013 at 6:39 PM

The Astros are moving back to the NL
Nolan Ryan is taking over Bud as the new Comish

The eight wonder of the world won’t be demolished and will be the MLB new headquarter

    Did I miss anything?

Maybe he plans to pitch in 2014. Someone should alert Suzyn Waldman! (was too lazy to imbed video of her crying..)

    • antifreeze27 - Nov 18, 2013 at 6:43 PM

Lol that doesn’t work unless you replace “he” with Roger Clemens.

Biggio or Bagwell taking an appointment doing something?

    • pzimm7778 - Nov 18, 2013 at 8:34 PM

The announcement is in the headline. They are going to make a joint announcement. Joints will now be permitted during attendance to make the experience of watching them bearable.

They are holding spring training at the International Space Station.

Oswalt is is signing a 6 year contract.

Didn’t mean to “reply” to someone else with this. My mistake originally.

They challenge the Texans for an NFL/MLB “Worst-off.” Hard to choose a favorite right now.

It’s a sports desert in Houston at the moment.

    • term3186 - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:42 AM

Desert might be a tad harsh. We’ve still got the Rockets who will likely go to the playoffs. And the Dynamo are in the Eastern Conference Finals, one win away from a 3rd consecutive trip to the MLS Cup.

Probably that they are moving to Double A where they might actually be able to compete.
