The Rangers are interested in Shin-Soo Choo

I guess there is at least one team who isn’t scared away from Scott Boras’ claim that Shin-Soo Choo should make more than Jayson Werth: the Texas Rangers. Jon Heyman reports that the Rangers are among the teams looking at Shin-Soo Choo.

But even if they’re not scared off by the claim, they’re not paying that price, Heyman reports. Of course, we live in a world where Hunter Pence just got $90 million, so it’s not insane to think that someone might pay Choo that.

Choo hit .285/.423/.462 with 21 home runs and 54 RBI over 154 games with the Reds this season. He has a .389 career on-base percentage.

I gotta admit Giants have done a lot of this with wierd expensive contracts. Maybe since ive followed them I have noticed a bit more but just think about it. Aaron Rowand 5 years 60 million, Edgar Renteria 2 years 18 million, Zito 7 years 126 million, Huff 2 years 22 million option for 3rd 10 milllion, and now Lincicum 35 million and Pence 90 million. Funny enough out of all those contracts the Pence seems the least head scratching. Also Giants did all these contracts early after October, most likely setting the price range for that year. Sounds odd and its just my opinion but it does make you wonder what’s going on with the Giants thinking to just jump the gun early and let the money roll like a drunk lonely man in the strip club.
