The Astros were insulted on “Jeopardy!”

Nov 19, 2013, 9:40 AM EDT

And it wasn’t terribly flattering:

For the record, the correct response is “What is a blowout preventer?” Which, man, that’s just harsh.

  1. bsbiz - Nov 19, 2013 at 9:42 AM

    That’s just mean.

    • Old Gator - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:11 AM

No, what you mean is, “Oooooo, that’s cold.”

    • apkyletexas - Nov 19, 2013 at 12:18 PM

“Bud Selig opens investigation of Alex Trabek for bullying. Film at 11.”

  2. aphillieated - Nov 19, 2013 at 9:45 AM

    cry about it

  3. kelshannon19 - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM

    This is headline news why?

    • Jeremy T - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:04 AM

Welcome to the offseason. It’s a cold, barren place.

      • Old Gator - Nov 19, 2013 at 2:59 PM

And the alternative was a story about Martin Bashir defecating on Sarah Palin, and the Moose Turd Queen getting all upset about it. Now, aren’t you glad Craig went with the Astros narrative instead?

    • raysfan1 - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:44 AM

It isn’t headline news. It’s a blog post.

      • kelshannon19 - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:45 AM

        Relax it was sarcasm.

      • raysfan1 - Nov 19, 2013 at 11:10 AM

Ok. I’m perfectly relaxed, but I did miss the sarcasm, sorry.

  4. metalhead65 - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:07 AM

ah maybe those mean people at jeopardy need to under go some reeducation…. er sensitivity training since they hurt the astros feelings and God knows we can’t have any hurt feelings in this country anymore. how about we lighten up a little bit and you know laugh about it? if he Astros did not suck nobody would make fun of them!.

    • historiophiliac - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:26 AM

I don’t think you’re going to get a lot of sympathy for your hurt feelings over having to be sensitive to others, so apparently, hurt feelings *are* allowed in this country. Be the pouting you want to see in the world, dude. Perhaps now I shall go laugh about your hurt feelings as you suggest. Have a nice day.

      • metalhead65 - Nov 19, 2013 at 11:21 AM

lighten up Francis but I guess I should expect a response like that from a politically correct tree hugger.

      • historiophiliac - Nov 19, 2013 at 12:41 PM

        Don’t be so sensitive, tree-hater.

      • cur68 - Nov 19, 2013 at 11:37 AM

Heya, ‘phiiliac. Great Moments In Irony, eh? “metalhead” here (love this handle, BTW: man ADMITS he’s got a foil hat on. Such bravery. Such honesty. Such dedication to being a nut! Gotta love it) writes what amounts to a screed on a what was clearly an intended-as-humour post, you counter with with pointing out his hypocrisy, and he’s got the temerity to be telling YOU to lighten up! rofl

Still, be thankful. He’s got his foil hat on. We’re mostly shielded from his “brain” waves. Or something.

      • historiophiliac - Nov 19, 2013 at 12:40 PM

His sensitivity is second only to his subtlety of thought. The tinfoil holds it in like heat on lasagna. It makes the cheese gooier.

  5. arckln - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:08 AM

    The day is mine, Trebek!

  6. icanspeel - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:09 AM

Is it an insult if it’s true?

  7. Old Gator - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:10 AM

The worst insults are the true ones.

    • stex52 - Nov 19, 2013 at 5:38 PM

Too true, OG. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the oven.

  8. Chipmaker - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:34 AM

    What was the category?

    • itsmrben - Nov 20, 2013 at 8:42 AM

      It’s THINGS for $1000.

  9. cur68 - Nov 19, 2013 at 10:48 AM

Well, that;s a burn. And, lets face it, its funny because its true….sorry Stex; you KNOW someone was going to say it.

    • stex52 - Nov 19, 2013 at 5:34 PM

As well they should. I thought it was kind of funny. They set out to rebuild by burning down the barn to kill the rats. They kind of missed the part about being a laughing stock in between.

Over/under is 100 losses for next year. Any arguments?

      • cur68 - Nov 19, 2013 at 5:41 PM

Um…barring the emergence of Jose Altuve as a Bautista-Like slugger, and the rotation metamorphosing into Koji Uehara . . . yeah. 100+ losses.

  10. doctornature - Nov 19, 2013 at 11:22 AM

That is an insult to BLOWOUT preventers, which saved my life a few times on offshore exploratory drilling rigs, where finding a lifeboat during a blowout is damn near impossible, especially if the rig catches fire. The Astros don’t save lives, unless you count the fans who quit going to games, avoiding possible car wrecks which might have killed them

  11. The Dangerous Mabry - Nov 19, 2013 at 11:30 AM

“I can tell you that your mother and I didn’t use any kind of preventer last night, Trebek! HA!”

  12. noodles73 - Nov 19, 2013 at 12:11 PM

I’ll take Anal Bum Covers for $200 Trebek!!

  13. moogro - Nov 19, 2013 at 12:30 PM

The Astros will be in the post-season long before the Twins.

  14. sisisisisisisi - Nov 19, 2013 at 1:18 PM

    BTW it’s a $1000 Jeopardy! question

“I’ll take Your Mother for 200, Trebek”

  16. disgracedfury - Nov 19, 2013 at 5:05 PM

When you purposely lose to get your third #1 draft pick than it’s not mean. They could have added George Springer in September but they didn’t because they wanted to secure losing the most.

If people gonna bash the Yankees for spending too much than small market team that pocket revenue sharing money too lose should be bash also.

    • stex52 - Nov 19, 2013 at 5:38 PM

Nah, they had a wrap on last already. Springer was too little too late to change anything. They knew they were going to bad at the start of the season. They just underestimated how bad.

I think they damaged the brand for a while.

And, by the way, you are wrong. They are not a small market team and they don’t get that revenue sharing. Check your numbers.

  17. sisisisisisisi - Nov 19, 2013 at 7:15 PM

Just upload a 3-minute 11/18/2013 jeopardy! video with the Astros question

Near the end (at the 2:34 mark), watch out for John Pearson tidbit on his 1992 tryout for the Duke walk-on Basketball team
